Hey there, you just have to download the tabs and guitar pro files (Bernth makes these for each video, there's a link to them in each post) to see the exact notes that Bernth is playing! Hope that helps, Team Bernth

Bernd Brodträger

Hi Bernth, it would be helpful if you sometimes tell us on what note you start the exercice, I see you but it is still difficult even at 50bpm Lots of love thanks Jackie

Jackie

Whoa! changed my technique to using my thumb behind the neck and made it all the way through this time! Was getting stuck at 160 previously

Aye. wish I would have posted when I first started. It was my first 4 NPS pattern I've tried. It was definitely lacking at like 100-120 bpm, and inaudible at 130+. Now I can get a clean 130 and the notes make sense up to 160 and a little at 170. It's been a good 5 or 6 days I believe

Patrick

5.9 day 1. 70 bpm 8.9 day 4 100 bpm progress made

140 bpm good, 150 bpm sounds a little sloppy... just work on it 🤪🤘🏻

July 12th 80Bpm

8th July 100bpm comfortably, 110bpm after a few tries (120bpm was really sloppy so can't count that) [took a break from guitar due to travelling] 25th July 110bpm comfortably, 120bpm but only while palm muting for some reason... not sure why palm muting made this easier, maybe due to restricting unnecessary pick movement? 29th July took a few attempts but I got 120bpm clean. Was tensing too much and had to take a walk for a few minutes and come back to it. I was too out of sync at 130bpm to claim that tempo but progress is progress... 4th August managed 130bpm finally. Out of curiosity I pushed past that and decided to ignore being sloppy to see how fast I can theoretically play, it seems my limitation is keeping my picking hand consistent around 160-170bpm. Below that it's just making sure my fingers are synchronised.

Erick Kasecamp

For a guitarist like Bernth, it doesn't matter;) he can play licks and solos irrespective of where he keeps the guitar, even if the guitar is at his back with his eyes closed.

Mridul Pandey

I suggest looking at the pick technique, look at his lessons sometimes we need to go back to move forward 🤘🏻

This is a very fun exercise! The first day I could get to about 100 and now I fall at 140. I keep trying to hold on after I hit 140 on the faster tempos so I could get a feel of what my hands are supposed to be feeling and I think that really helps me understand the technique better!

Bozhko Bozhkov

day 1 - scrapped together 100bpm after about 20 minutes. its tuff

Ben Grissom

Day 3 - 100 bpm

Day 2 - 90 bpm

Hey there, yes that's correct - using a foot stool really helps :) I like to work with both positions but the classical position helps with stretching & technique!

Bernd Brodträger

I thnik Bernth is playing with a guitar foot stool. I am playing with that as wel for the last couple of months and it helped me a lot. It is very usefull because there is almost no difference in standing and sitting anymore. I think Bernth covers that in one of his video's. Guitar classical pose or something like that. Cheers

ErikPlaysGuitar

So i noticed that Bernth has his guitar positioned between his knees and i have mine on the outside of my right knee. Does this affect playing better for different positions?

Holden Soefje

Highly recommend the alternate picking master class course because it allowed me to skip straight to level 6 on this exercise and feel comfortable around 140-150 bpm. Thank you Bernth

day 4: painful 130 :D

Yannick Häke

Day 1: 40 bpm Day 2: 70 bpm

Aaron Lee

Can sloppily get through 100 bpm but I fall off at 110

Austin Wells

This is deceptively hard. I was able to get it smoothly at 140 last night. 150 was a bit rough. This is a great exercise.

Sean Entrikin

Bernth: this is SO MUCH FUN!!! I am not used to play 4 notes per one string. Feels like a Fox in Socks tongue twister. My fingers can't blab such blibber blubber! :) May8 @90 bpms; May9 @90 still, May11 @100 up to @120; May 12 @130 (not bad); May13 @150 bpms; ...

F. Javier Arze

this is good one, would nice to have the slowly increased bpm on the other practice exercises, going from 50 to 100 to 150 is quite a big jump and i think it holds me back from increasing speed.

bryan peacey

Thank you so much!

Ronen

Really a fun part Bernth.... today I gave up at 100... will be better the next day! ...just keep up guys!

Balázs Takács

Thanks for asking, Jason! The arm/wrist is always in contact with the instrument, I lose control as soon as that isn't the case anymore - but I'd have to analyze if there's a difference in pressure, thanks for the idea/observation :)

Bernd Brodträger

Hey Ronan, all course packages are located here: https://www.patreon.com/bernth?filters[tag]=Patreon%20Online%20Courses This is the one that you are looking for: https://www.patreon.com/posts/204-how-to-build-59575511 The links to all files are in the post :)

Bernd Brodträger

It starts falling apart for me around 90 bpm. This is a fun one but the stretch is tough on those high frets lol

Austin Wells

The brutality when you realize you have only 21 frets :x I pitch corrected the backing track 2 semitones down though and play it from C rather than D and it works fine. Day 1: 60 bpm, 70 if I really concentrate, overall quite sloppy, dead notes all over the place Day 2: Consistent 70, 80 if I push it. Really struggling to move my thumb in the back Day 3: 80-90

Sia

I'll try this tonite. keep in mind that guitar setup is important to play fast. strings need to be lowered to increase speed.

Rylie Franco

How do I access the guitar picking master class?

Ronen

Thanks! For this lesson! It’s interesting how the pick slanting technique develops above 120 BPM.

Stefan Schönebeck

It looks like you are resting your forearm less as the tempo increases. Is your forearm touching your guitar at all at 200 BPM? Is that something you are conscious of when you are practicing?

Jason Starr

Made my hands ache just watching it as it got faster. BRAVO

Steve Shaw

Seems to be a great thing to practice! Thanks Bernth!

Balázs Takács

Love these types of picking lessons!!! Thank you Bernth!

Tim

Nice! Looking forward to this one. Be going super slow trying to develop a solid foundation. Thanks Bernth!!!

Rob Lee

Seems like a good entertaining exercise to work with. I got to 140bpm before things started getting sloppy, will need to work on this!

Matt Martin

It will take me a year at least to get to 120bpm with that I think Sounds awesome can’t wait to have a go I been looking for a 4 nps lick
