#211 - 25 MIN GUITAR TECHNIQUE WORKOUT - Alternate Picking, Sweep Picking, Legato, Tapping

Time to practice together! You voted for a daily 25-minute play-along guitar technique workout - so I made one for alternate picking, sweep picking, legato, and tapping :)

Here are your additional practice files (video play-along without my guitar, full workout video, tabs, guitar pro files with instrumentation, backing tracks): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1E3hPuPMUCrK5JuGI5RWbJrzM8cvCTNHQ?usp=sharing

You can use the guitar pro file to change the tempo yourself or to even modify the workout to fit your own needs (looping certain sections, working with multiple tempos,...) and I hope you have tons of fun practicing! :)

As always, here's a Dropbox folder in case Google Drive doesn't work for you: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/y8qocbgj2mw1p9u/AADEnAYE4M5T-bpjEAx-DGm_a?dl=0

Excelent lesson <3

It took me 45 minutes to get through the first 8 minutes of the video. But I did it! Goal is to make it through whole thing!

Chris Lee

I just love videos like this one! For a beginner like me its a great compilation for daily practice.

This is great. Thank you.

This is especially great for those (too many) days when I lack sufficient time for a thorough practice session.

Karsten Fliegner

Bienvenido David! :)

Hola! Soy nuevo miembro en la familia de los Bernthaddicteds. Un saludo a todos y...sred or die!

This one is about technique and finger training, not about learning licks :) Chromatic/Semichromatic lines often help the most with this since you're using all fingers and train independence and control this way. But if the community votes for it, I'm happy to put together a package on the modes similar to this :)

Bernd Brodträger

Thanks for the tip Robert.

If you haven't already, check out lesson #151 which is a workout, as well. I use that as warm-up and the new one as follow-up, then the rest of my exercises/lessons. :)

Robert Bjärmyr

Yes, checking out the individual courses first is a great idea, you ca find them here: https://www.patreon.com/bernth?filters[tag]=Patreon%20Online%20Courses

Amazing video! This should be a series!

Joe Sullivan

I believe there's a 30-day challenge (and practice lessons) for each of the fields used in the workout. Those would be ideal to get you started, in my opinion. :)

Robert Bjärmyr

WoW!! I love this but I am kind of overwhelmed. How do I break this down easier?

Jason Schusster

about half way lol, never done nor tried any sweep so i guess that might take some time...so also an additional amount of time to add to my daily routine lol but it is so much fun! Danke sehr herrn Bernth!

Pascal Verschaffel

Love this workout :D

Marco

*Sigh* After watching this, I guess I'll have to add *another* 25 minutes to my playlist of exercises to do every day... ;) I've very pleased with the content in this one, lots of excellent runs in there! Edit: Just finished today's session. Loved the new workout!

Robert Bjärmyr

Yes, he does. It's called hybrid picking. ( From what I've seen, Bernth does it "all the time" during legato runs. It's a great way to combine several exercises in one, as well. :) )

Robert Bjärmyr

Perfect timing for the weekend exercises. I really appreciate you putting all this work into creating these lessons! 🔥🎸🔥

Rob Lee

Hi Bernth! Do you use your middle finger to pluck the high E string in the Legato Ex1 at approx 13th minute of the video?

Tim Suleyman

I really appreciate content like this. I don't have to think much about what to practice, just follow along. Great! Having said that, I would enjoy the workout even more if it was a bit less chromatic and a bit more diatonic. For two reasons: 1.) I can rely on my ear more whether I make mistakes 2.) The patterns I inevitably learn whilst practicing can be applied better in a real world musical context and don't just serve finger dexterity.

Chris

This is what I need. Thank you!

Awesome! 🤘🥳🤘

Robert Bjärmyr

Bernth you leave us no choice, we'll have to pick up the guitar again and start practicing!) Now we will all have a happy weekend!) Thanks Bernth!
