How do you pick the first note on Days 21-25?

StoLen Smith

22/9/22 I got through this all the way it wasn't the best still progress

jaz

Awesome, I will check it right away. Thanks!

Michał Gorzym

Hey Michał, I think this will help: https://www.patreon.com/posts/229-patreon-67802535

Hi guys, one quick question here. How do you mute strings from low E to G? I am able to mute B string using the tip of fretting hand's index finger but what about the rest? When I tap the high E string I eventually get sympathetic vibrations from other strings. I've got an idea to use my picking/tapping hand to mute low string but I do not know if that makes any sense. I would love to hear some ideas from you :) And of course thank you Bernth for another great course! Cheers, Michał

Michał Gorzym

24/ 5/22 up to level 9 played sloppy as haha

jaz

2/5/22 up to level 8 which I can’t do But I will

jaz

Love this course, 4/22/22 I'm around 80 starting to get 90 under my fingers. My experience of this tapping sequence is that at the lower speeds, the "hard part" is in the middle the around the slides, whereas at higher speeds, it becomes a lot harder to do the ending sequence in a clean way with good tone, because every tap is with just that one right hand middle finger.

Seth

3/4/22 up to 100 sloppy 16/4/22 100 bpm not bad

jaz

I change my approach and know I play all the exercises with no gain at all, I´ve been seen more progress because distorsion will hide techinique issues. My suggestion is just keep it clean, you will notice the difference in a few weeks after doing that :) at least is working for me haha

Ray Figueroa

Yes, that's perfectly normal, it just takes some practicing :) Please don't cheat by just using more gain though, it will hold back your progress!

Bernd Brodträger

Loving the start of this course (in the Day6-10 block right now)! I'm noticing tapping on the low E is a lot easier to get a louder output in terms of volume compared to the high E. Is this normal or just bad technique? Thinking about switching to a higher gain amp setting for easier tapping across all strings....

Aaron Shepanik

I'm all about the 30-day routines:) Can't wait to start this on April 1!

Aaron Shepanik

28/3/22 80 bpm

jaz

Yes, but make sure to go for the course (link in the post) before you do this challenging workout :)

Bernd Brodträger

Anyone have thoughts on if this would be suitable to someone who hasn't done any tapping before, ever?

Aaron Shepanik

Question regarding Day 16-20 exercise. A minor pentatonic using a three note pattern per string. How is the third note/interval chosen in this context? A(root) C(3rd) D(9th)? Or D(4th)?

ubmastering

Hey Bernth! Thanks for the course! :) I have an issue that I find rather odd, since I never had this problem, but it is shown particularly when I try to tap... Using my pinky finger multiple times for tapping exhausts my whole hand already after some seconds. Is this just a matter of practise? Somehow I never tapped with the pinky finger, always with the others, so this course is great. I just wonder if one could do something wrong, or if I am simply not used to use my pinky finger so often in a short amount of time. Thanks! :)

Peet Ysuranox

Super awesome course! I'm on day 22. In the exercise for days 21-25, one thing that seem hard is muting the low E string after that first tap. What's the best way to do it? I'm trying to using the index finger itself -- is that right? It seems challenging to tap and then immediately mute using the same finger, when the next note is a tap from another finger on the same hand. Is this the correct technique or should I try something else?

Seth

Thank you Jorge, I'm happy that you enjoy the content! Hope you have an awesome day :)

Bernd Brodträger

Hi Bernth! I´m a new member of your Patreon and all the material here is absolutelly priceless! ty so much!. The normal excercises out there are so boring, but you created a method in where you play music while you´re working in your technique. Congrats! (Sorry for my english)

Jorge Catalán

Awesome lesson! It was very fun and i found several ways to improve my technique along the way. I do have one complaint though, I felt like there was something missing going into the final lesson. (unless i missed something....which is more likely than not). I feel like there could have been an exercise that helped develop the (rh) middle, ring, middle on the 10th fret at the end of the first measure of the day 26-30 exercise. That being said...that was the first 30 day workout that I put alot of effort into and it was waaaay fun!

Kramer M Riddick

thanks heaps for the prompt reply Bernth. For me, makes sense to release towards the upside when on lower E string and towards the downside when on higher E string (as there is no obstruction or risk of hitting the next string). Still gotta work out the middle strings :)

ZenX

Hey there, thanks for asking about this! It's actually discussed in the course (the reasons why I prefer the motion) but both options exist :) I just get less string noise and it's easier to speed it up for me - I'm sure there are great players who use the other approach as well!

Bernd Brodträger

HI Bernth, I've noticed when you tap and 'release' the string, the release motion is towards the upside. When I'm doing it, my tap n release is towards the downside. Is this a bad habit ? should i work on switching it to upward motion? thanks !

ZenX

Great, it works. Thank you, you're the man!

Andrei Pitu

Thanks for asking Andrei, you need the Guitar Pro software of the free/shareware alternative Tuxguitar :)

Bernd Brodträger

Hi Bernth, great workouts as always!! I have one little problem, when I want to use the guitar profiles, I can download them, but I cannot open them. What app should I use?

Andrei Pitu

Happy to hear that Simon, thanks for sharing! :) I'd love to do one that features all techniques and exercises we explored so far, let me think of something - thanks for the input!

Bernd Brodträger

This is an awesome lesson, since I've signed up my playing has improved drastically, and for that I thank you so much. One question I have though, have you thought of using all these 30 day packages to role into one major solo over time? That would be sweet if you could figure that into some of your workouts. Anyway, your the man! Thanks heaps for the knowledge you share!

Simon Mcintosh

Another great course!) thx)

Eugen Emakov

Very nice course so far Bernth . Really enjoy the tapping. thanks

Erwin Weyers

This sounds giga awesome. I am in!

Martin Podolák

can't do it at 30 bpm =)

J H

Thanks for the input,

Steve Shaw

when you have to achieve this, try thinking that what you are doing is a hammer on from nowhere, first with an exaggerated movement and slow and having caution on muting the tapped/hammered string of your left hand when you tap with the right hand

Jose llopis temes

Hey John, there's always a Dropbox folder in the posts as well in case Google Drive doesn't work for some reason, I added one here as well!

Bernd Brodträger

Absolutely! :) The workout features tapping with multiple fingers and also a tapping slide to spice things up :)

Bernd Brodträger

Hey Derik, as mentioned in the instructional videos I also made Guitar Pro files so that you can change tempos to suit your skill level. And no, you're not only playing on one string for 30 days, you will cover all strings of course, and multiple tapping techniques as well :)

Bernd Brodträger

Hi Bernth, another nice one! Thanks a lot for your content! One small thing though: In the very first exercise the very first note is played by pulling of with a tapping finger, but without a sound of the tapped note. This is quite hard to see in the video because of the "course-package-image" during the count in. In the day 5-10 video the image is gone a bit earlier and the playing technique can be seen clearly.

MF

I can't download the files in Google Drive for all your lessons. :(

John Henry

quick question. this is my first set of lessons here For days 1-5 do we only practice at the speed 40 for the entire 5 days? Do we only stay on the low E string for the entire 5 days?

Derik White

these 30 day challenges are great bernth, thank you

Alex

I love the tapping exercises, but I get a bit lost knowing where to tap in realation to the fretting hand, if you know what I mean.

Steve Shaw

Exactly what I waited for after fininshing the legato course

Christoph Witt

i use to hide my pick between the thumb and the index in order to use my index and middle fingers (and the other two when they are needed) i liked this one for sure i'll work on it :D I noticed an interesting exercise using the right and little fingers with the10th fret tapped section or any finger you are not acustomed to utilize when tapping (this could be interesting for gaining strength on those fingers)

Jose llopis temes

Did I see you sneak your right ring finger in there ?

George Gotsiridze

Oh that warm feeling you get when your favorite technique pokes its ugly head up and blows you a kiss with an evil grin :)))) Let’s get it on
