#192 - The 7 Guitar Exercises That Will Change Your Life

Since you guys and girls are currently busy with the most recent hand synchronization online course, I'd like to take some time to answer one of the most commonly asked questions (on lesson votings and especially with new members): what is the best possible 30-minute technique practice routine and which exercises should you start with?

In this video, I'd like to show you the 7 exercises that really changed my life over the last months and years - those are some of the workouts that took my technique to a much better level and I hope they will do the same for you :)

Here's a folder I made for you, featuring all the practice files for the exercises: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1vyQiEONs_LJStuKfMb-qGHWSEpW5Kmdf?usp=sharing

Great exercises! Please put the up/down for each note in the tabs, easy to get lost, which is the whole point of this technique. Thanks!

Any chance to see the 1st exercise in.slow motion please?

Riadh Mahmoudi

Why can't I hit the like button more than once? I just came here to look up something while being frustrated that I can't play some 16th exercises at 120bpm when I can play single string shreds at much higher speeds easily. Didn't know there was such a valley between 100bpm and 140bpm for other guitarists too :-)

Fhynix

what do you have for brekky ? besides the redbull ofcourse haha

jaz

Happy that I could help, thanks for sharing this Jeremy :)

This video right here is worth the membership dues. Good one, Bernth. Exercise 1 really helped me tighten up some things on some real fast shred licks. I economy pick so much, but sometimes that puts you in a spot where you really need to fluently alternate pick your way out. Exercise 5 has helped me with the same thing. Weird how small exercises like these make such a difference. Great stuff as always man 👊

Jeremy Baker

tuxguitar is free also :)

Dan Hughes

they also could use tuxguitar

Jose llopis temes

Awesome. Thanks.

istillsuckatguitar

Excellent!

I'd pick 3 of them to create a 30 minute technique routine :) After a while, you can always swap them to cover different areas of developing your technique! To make a full routine out of it, you should definitely add theory and practical material, so that you get an hour of practice time if that works for you schedule :)

Thanks for asking Diego! Here's a link to all the course packages I made for Patreon so far: https://www.patreon.com/bernth?filters[tag]=Patreon%20Online%20Courses

If anyone doesn't have guitar pro, it's worth the investment. It's helping w/ speeding up repetitions automatically so you can get through the practice more efficiently. And all the lessons are grouped together there, so it makes everything much quicker.

#7 sounded like some Buckethead weirdness lol

Fernweh

Philip

Hi Bernth, how do I purchase/access your courses?

Hey Bernth, if I have time, should I practice all the exercises each day or just a few and then move on to chords and songs and rhythm each day? Thanks. -- Mike

istillsuckatguitar

That's a great video.

istillsuckatguitar

Awesome. Thanks Bernth. I'm officially creating my practice routine today. Then I will practice playing "Fernweh," which uses a lot of these techniques.

istillsuckatguitar

WOW. Bernth you are the absolute man. About exercise 4: theres a video on youtube called "Private lesson Official" with Joe Satriani, where he teaches a student, and at the beginning of the lesson, at some point Joe does this exact exercise while listening to the student.

Andrei Cristof

Love your work as always Bernth I been using these exercises and my fingers are starting to have independence I am in Fernweh I miss my maa and my bro

jaz
