#190 - AMAZING CHORD TRICKS! (every guitarist MUST know) + MODERN CHORD PACKAGE

You voted for legendary chords and cadences - so I finally want to deliver a new Patreon exclusive course! Aside from this lesson, I prepared this Modern Chord Package especially for you: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1CgIQ_EE1GB2Hze-35oULUjB2r1a1vmvU?usp=sharing

These voicings will help you out a lot whenever you're looking for inspiration with your riffs, cadences, and songs :) It's extremely helpful to have a library like this and I hope you will use it a lot! Aside from the course workbook, tabs, and guitar pro files, I also made a video for each chord to show you the sound and voicing!

I hope you're also ready to get back into guitar technique with me, next week will be INTENSE. Can't wait to share the next workouts with you, until then have fun with these awesome chords!

P.S.: Here's a Dropbox link in case Google Drive is not working correctly: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zgn8e09sisnwj04/AAAQa1HXvjDb0R5GtU7McSJ8a?dl=0

#190 - AMAZING CHORD TRICKS! (every guitarist MUST know) + MODERN CHORD PACKAGE

Comments

Although this chord package is useful by itself, it would be very advantageous to have an established routine with a step by step, as in other courses posted here, like Day 1-5, Day 6-10... to make the most of these new ideas! Thank you!

Carlos Ferreira

Picking 2-3 lead sheets for your routine and applying different voicings to the changes with each playthrough really helps :)

What is the best way to practice chords?

Looking forward to adding this to the practice routine!

At 4:41, you annotated Amaj7#11, Cmaj7#11, and Dmaj7#11 but it looks like you are playing Gmaj7#11, A#maj7#11, and Dmaj7#11, no?

MG

Thanks Bernth!

Brandon Roth

Great stuff!!!! It 'd be awesome to keep learning about chords! theory lessons are always useful! Many thanks Bernth!

Hey Brandon, thanks so much for sharing this! Yes, I'd love to get more into chords depending on how the lesson votings go :) The Dorian chords mostly focus on the added major sixth interval to minor chords (the first two m6 chords), so you could use m6 chords as the tonic for any Dorian composition - but yes, you can also try to think in parallels here and use them on the second scale degree of major!

Bernd Brodträger

I really appreciate the chord package, very informative. It appears that the chords you have chosen belong in the key of C as evidenced by the key signature. For example, the Dorian chords in the book are Dminor chords which is the second (Dorian) degree of the C major scale. The reason I ask, is I want to be able to transpose these chords to different keys I am using. Please let me know if I am correct. Also, is there any way you can shed a little light on how to resolve these interesting chords in a future lesson? Thanks for all you do, great stuff!

Brandon Roth

Takes longer for my mrs to nachtrich me back than Bernth does 🤙🏼 Love these chords by the way

Hey Suria, this is currently my favorite approach for improvising/soloing over changes: https://www.patreon.com/posts/187-best-for-pro-55080401 Hope it helps :)
