#103 - Odd Meters, Slapping And Thumping!

Since you voted for 'Working With Odd Meters' on the wishlist for this month, I want to show you my approach for composing and playing in 5/8 and 7/8 while also discussing some interesting techniques like slapping and thumping :)
How do you count odd meters correctly? How do you come up with odd meter material naturally? How do you keep time effectively in this challenging musical environment? If you ever asked yourself questions like that, you will like this lesson a lot :)

This was also new and challenging for me, I'm really not a master when it comes to this playing style (thump/slap) - but it's important to exit the comfort zone often and recording these videos is a perfect way of doing that in a constructive and hopefully helpful way :)

2020-07-28 11:28:48 +0000 UTCYesterday I encountered the Same issue, however not so complicated. I'm learning the Adrian Smith solo from the prisoner... It has these triads but need to be played in 4/4 although it sounds like triplets, confuses the Hell out of me 😳
