#93 - Top 5 Best Sweeping Exercises

Good morning to the community, hope you have a great start into the week today :)

Since your feedback on the 'Top 10 Best Picking Exercises' video was very good, I'd like to feature the best sweep picking exercises in the same way, before we check out new material later this week! I think these videos serve as a great summary of what we worked on so far and as great starting points for new members.

I also uploaded all the files in this post once again, here are the links to the individual lessons:

very nice - I'm struggling with sweeping still after all these years, need a very good rote back-to-basics tutorial like this to button things down. I'll let you know if I am ever able to successfully sweep after a few weeks of this :D

Thanks for asking Andrés! I recorded one so far since not all students have a 7 string at home and I don't want anybody to feel left out - in this lesson, I show my concept of working with 7 strings and we check out a killer riff: https://www.patreon.com/posts/78-how-to-shred-36193709

Do you have 7 string guitar lessons?

Andrés Velásquez

That's a great idea! I mostly work with a distorted sound for licks that I want to play with distortion as an end result - that makes it easier for me to hear if there is any string noise or if I need to do some extra muting. But I make sure to really dial it back, around 50% less than I would use live or for a recording - that way I can't hide inconsistencies or shortcomings behind a wall of gain and effects :) Practicing with a clean sound is also a great idea to see how accurately you can pull off certain things but I also recommend practicing shred/metal stuff with distortion because of the amplified string noise/feedback you will want to avoid! That goes for pretty much all exercises here, hope that helps :)

Great content as always! I was just thinking if it would be a good idea from now on to share on description some tone settings assistance for practicing the exercises!

Thank you so much Bernth!😊

I can really recommend this video when it comes to finding a cool solo tone for this plugin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Po_DmnQXO4 - hope that helps :)

Can anybody tell me how can I get the same sound as Bernth's Guitar? I am using the same Neural Plini plugin but I don't know what preset and configurations he is using. Somebody please help. Thanks in advance.

Great lessons!! This will keep me busy, for certain. Thank You...
