#87 - Hammer-On & Pull-Off Workouts

Welcome back to the last lesson topic from the wishlist for May! You voted for hammer-on and pull-off workouts, so today I'd like to show you one of my favorite approaches concerning that :)

Aside from learning this powerful exercise, you will also revisit the most important factors that define a clean and accurate legato technique. This is often overlooked since hammer-ons and pull-offs seem easy to master in the beginning! That's why I'm happy that you voted for this topic, working on this really pays off.

As always, I attached the tabs, guitar pro files, and practice backing tracks for you below - hope you have a lot of fun practicing!

#87 - Hammer-On & Pull-Off Workouts

Comments

What do people use to sustain the strings for the hammer ons? Is this an effect, compression, or amp setting? Or is it just the force of the left hand fingers coming down on a string?

Terry O'Gara

Same. It's not so bad on both E strings, A and D. But my pinky game is weak on G and B.

Jodie Fitzgerald

My pinky is unable to generate enough power to produce same articulation as that of other fingers

Finally an awesome exercises to improve my legato technique and more important to sound clean with precision! Thx a lot!

Thanks alot

my pinky is too short for this...

Thank you for this workout! I always put aside this and I find difficulties to perfom some legato leaks and some sweeping with taping leaks.
