#74: Most Effective Shred Exercise Ever? | Sweeping + Alternate Picking + Music Theory

Today we already tackle the first topic from your lesson wishlist, thanks to all Gold & Platinum members for voting! We are combining scales and arpeggios and check out an amazing system of visualizing that in general.

Of course, we also want to add some technical challenges and work with sweeping and alternate picking. By utilizing these pattern sequences in your playing, you will sound much more original and unique in the future! So this is an exercise that combines a lot of different topics and it's a great time saver for your practice routine :) Hope you have fun with this one!

One of the best lessons. Contains everything. We need more of this. :-)

Hey Nigel, thanks a lot for your comment! I'm happy to welcome you to the inner circle today :) Sweep picking is a very challenging topic, you are right - I even recorded an entire masterclass for www.bernth.at on it! This technique has been a big focus for me over the years and I plan on featuring it some more very soon (always depending on the lesson votings on here - the community decides). You can find all sweeping lessons on Patreon under the tab 'Arpeggio/Sweep Picking Lessons', here's the direct link: https://www.patreon.com/bernth?filters[tag]=Arpeggio%2FSweeping%20Lessons

Hi Bernth, I’m new to Patreon, been hooked on #74 Lydian arpeggio (within E form C Lydian & D Mixolydian), I’ve had years of being stuck in a rut doing up & down (E form mode positions + caged system)* Problem for me is the doing the correct up / down pick motion. Couldn’t see any picking directions on tab but got most from video. Could you advise me on a sweeping lesson to concentrate on my picking technique as been stuck on sweeping for years now, I’m 51 now and still have a goal to tackle this. Anyway great to be a part of your community that’s something very special and unique.
