#42: 'Jazz Chords' In Metal? How To Spice Up Boring Riffs!

The weekend is around the corner once again, happy to share another early access lesson with you right in time :)

For this one we take a short break from all the shredding, scales and arpeggios and focus on creative riff writing. I show you some of my secrets concerning interesting chord voicings and we reharmonize a basic metal riff.

As always I also added the PDF tab and Guitar Pro files below for you exclusively, with this one it will be much easier to see and understand each voicing! Let me know if you have any questions, hope you all have a great weekend!

Hi Bernth, thank for your work. I follow you on YouTube since several Weeks, and all the exercices and tips you give are very usefull, so I decided today to join your patreon. The voicing of today is one more time very usefull, keep rocking!

that 9th chord voicing sounds like the walking dead theme.

Hey Brian, thanks for the kind feedback, happy that trick is useful for you :) I really love the sound of that and use it frequently - also in the Pop band I'm currently touring with, really sounds nice with a clean sound too!

Thank you for taking the time to share that Hector, that honestly made my day :) My biggest goal is to motivate as many players as possible to pick up the guitar, to hear that you are playing every day now makes me very happy!

Love your approach, and very clear, and concise breakdown, Bernth. The added 9th and 3rd trick is excellent. Thank you for making the time to share your knowledge (and with PDFs, and mp3s !). Cheers.

I love the way you said I added a little shread lick I couldn't resist!🀘🏾🎸 lol But seriously I want to thank you with all the lessons you do. I had been seeing your playing for awhile before joining your patreon and what made me dive in and join was that you come up with licks & riffs that are on the more excotic side. You sir definitely sound different then the usual players. "I like that!" I eventually want to have a Skype lesson with you. I have played for years then I kinda left it. Till about 9 month ago. I have been reborn as a player. I hit the guitar everyday and have reached another level.
