#39: Biggest Shred Guitar Mistake - How To Fix It! | Hand Synchronization

It's finally time for another lesson - happy to share this one earlier with the inner circle again :) This time we focus on hand synchronization, easily the most important topic concerning fast shred playing ever! If the notes of your left hand are not perfectly lined up with your picking strokes it gets really messy.

I prepared a killer lick/exercise that worked wonders for me personally and hope you have a lof of fun trying it out! As always I attached the PDF tab, Guitar Pro files and a practice backing track below exclusively for you.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Awesome lesson. Contains pretty much everything: Rhythm, technique, music theory and all of that displayed in a detailed and easy way. Excellent.

Thanks so much for sharing this Dennis! I made a course and workout challenge on this recently, I think that will also help :) Here's the link: https://www.patreon.com/posts/191-best-5-min-56222239

I picked up the guitar again after several years because my friend asked me to play a solo on his new song...(Lewis Hill - Run) it was intimidating to say the least due to my inactivity. Now I am finding hand synchro is giving me my biggest issues. I love your playing style and it made me remember why I picked up the guitar in the first place. Thanks.

Hey Hector, thank you very much! I mostly work with the Kemper profiler, on stage and in the home studio :) Love how many sounds you can get out of it and it beats anything I have tried so far! Aside from that I sometimes use Guitar Rig 5 when the rig is not at home but you can clearly hear the difference in those videos.. I never tried any fractal stuff but also hear a lot of positive feedback concerning that :)

Like your tone. What do you use as an effect processor? Or what have you found gives you the sound you like. I like using a line 6 vetta 2. But I purchased it many years ago. And may be doing some shopping in the near future. Have heard some positive and some so so as far as the fractal 3?

Happy that this one was helpful Axel :) I'll make sure to come up with more concerning that!

Hey master!! Good exercise, more like this one will be great. Txs :)

Hey Scott, what a great question! Just had to play the lick again to answer it correctly, this is something I do not pay attention to very much anymore since it happens naturally - but you are absolutely right, it's a very important detail! I'm not lifting my finger here, I'm sliding since the movement is more economic that way. But I don't want the listener to hear a slide, the finger has to be in place for the next picking stroke to make it sound like one connected stream of notes :) Hope that helps a bit, thanks for the input and question!

Nice lesson. In the first bar, are you moving your pinky from the 8th fret to the 10th fret on the high E string in the first position switch? If so, when you play fast, are you actually picking up your pinky or sliding it from 8 to 10? I've also seen people move their index finger from the 5th fret to the 7th fret to make the switch as well. Is one better than the other?

Thank you.
