#31: How To Play Much Faster | Alternate Picking Exercise [Early Access]

Hey guys, it's finally time for another early access lesson - this time I want to show you one of my favorite exercises to increase picking speed. The trick is quite simple and it worked wonders for me personally, hope it helps you just as much :)

As a bonus I transcribed it again and also exported a playalong specially for you (2 bars pre-count, 1 bar break inbetween the sections). It would be great to attempt this exercise (or just the first bar of it repeated constantly) if speed is a topic you want to work on - let me know if you have any questions! Hope you have an amazing weekend :)

after a year i can play this with the backing track so sick

Suggest: Relax or lift your index finger. Then when you play that note again there will be the extra punch of pressing that finger down again. Some say its faster to lift fingers when not playing rather than anchor them.

What should my index finger do when I'm not playing that note? should i relax or keep press on string ?

This is insane! Yesterday i struggled with 115 bpm 16th notes. I tried this exercises for 30 minutes yesterday and 30 minutes today and i´m at 120 bpm 16th notes clean. The best 60 minutes of exercise i have ever spend. Thank you so much!

Happy you like this one Sebastian, I still work with it in my practice routine, it's a really great warmup exercise too :)

This is one hell of an exercise when it comes to building a clean technique with alternate picking. I really like it!

That's great to hear Michael, glad you enjoy this one!
