Lick Of The Day #12 - Pentatonic Shred
Added 2019-01-26 15:37:18 +0000 UTCIt's getting quite fast again as we check out this cool pentatonic shred lick. We are combining two different pentatonic boxes here and extend the usual shape with the first notes of the next connected box. By doing that we get the stretch pentatonic shape which is perfect for fast licks in triplets! I always prefer to work with 3 note per string scale patterns for shredding and this trick turns the famous pentatonic scale into just that.
By extending the pentatonic shape we also get a note repition here, focus on the sound of that - to me this can be very interesting because it sounds like you are playing the same note in the same position twice if you manage to pull it off very clean.
