Lick Of The Day #3 - Harmonic Minor Shred
Added 2019-01-26 14:43:24 +0000 UTCThis time we check out a very cool harmonic minor lick. It's quite fast and based around the repitition of different scale positions within the 3 note per string patterns. The raised 7th gives us the unique and oriental harmonic minor sound here, check out the bonus lesson for the harmonic minor scale to learn more about that!
Your main goal here is making every single note audible. This lick only works and sounds cool if it's played super clean - especially focus on your transition from string to string! For recording purposes I always like to use a fretwrap to get rid of any extra noise, I don't do that in live situations though and it has to be exactly as clean there to fit my standards. So it's a good tool to get the perfect take a bit quicker but you should not rely on it too much!
