This is actually a problem we didn't finish solving, while we did conceptualize a lot, energy was the biggest issues and we settled with "people will find a way to make energy, because evolution of technology" haha.
The concept behind this batteries was that energy grids would be a thing of the past and completely nonexistent, so people would turn to natural energies (not all knowledge was erased so we figured remnants of the past would guide people to solutions faster than when they were first invented) like hydroelectric plants to produce electricity. and obviously without a grid, people would need to travel to obtain this electricity similar to water.
Interestingly enough, rechargeable batteries aren't that hard to make! Although these are not working batteries :v
