JUNK: a worldbuilding workshop

A while ago I made some random posts with illustrations of this workshop I took, but never gave it a follow up... Here it is now. I'll be making a series of posts talking about the different parts I developed for this, character development and story telling!.

What is Junk? It's a workshop that used world building methods designed by Alex Mcdowell who has been the creative director of many movies, some are: Fight club, Minority Report, Charlie and the Chocolate factory and the Corpse Bride. So the expectation of getting guidance from such skilled person? Wow!

The central idea is that during this workshop, us students built an interconnected world in multiple ways, which evolved based on engagement and interaction. We developed environments that provoked the characters in the world to tell their stories and connect the dots between them and their areas of influence. As a case study, the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico was taken, throughout this course we were able to imagine, devise and develop a distant future of approximately 300 years and a fictional world called JUNK that is inhabited by a population that lives off the waste of today's society.

Isn't it thrilling? Besides the scary post apocalyptic vibes, to actually build and think of all the details was so fantastic!
