December Ranma and Patron Poll Results 2025

Happy Friday, all.  It’s past time to close the Ranma poll (by two days, sorry), and the Patron only poll. 

As for Bhaalson Remodel, I am… I would say around 3/4s through it.  Two scenes in particular I had to rewrite several times to get them right which wasn’t fun – that’s what I was doing the past two days - although the whole chapter has been great to work on.

(As an aside, Focus Gummies should not have ginseng in them.  They put me to sleep like a shot of sleepy juice for hours yesterday.  I lost the whole fucking morning! WTF!)

Regardless, I’m going to switch to working through the Ranma winner tomorrow via Dragon Naturally Speaking and then the Patron Only Poll winner quickly. To remind everyone, the idea is to get as many of the words/writing done as possible and then edit in the shorter segments of time I’ll have when obligatory Family Time comes. That means I won’t finish any of the fics this month early.  The only one I could have was the HP poll winner, but there was so much editing, correcting, lore and so forth needed, not to mention the two scenes I had issues with that should have taken half a day each, but dragged onnnn….

Anyway, here are the poll results.  First, the Ranma poll…

Oh my word.  This was CLOSE.  Like reallllly freaking close. Right up until I put in the Carry Over effect, anyway. 

Before the Carry over effect:

Stallion of the Line – 1672

Effect of a Horse and a Dragon – 1678

Then Effect gets 518 votes from the Carry Over, giving it an overwhelming instead of barely there victory.

Wow.  So I will start work on Effect today. 

Stallion will get the ¼ carry over from this, so 418, in January.

And again, I didn’t vote in this. Nice. Well, let’s see if my votes will matter in the Patron Only Poll, LOL.

Huh.  Another even one, well, between two of the choices, anyway.  And again before the Carry over effect is added in.

Heroes of the High Seas came in a distant third place, with 675.  OOF.  Painful. I said I might vote for this, but I’m not gonna do that here, since it had no chance to win. Just… none.

Second place was Climbing Together, which brought in 1,538 votes.

Thus in first place was Death’s Avenger with1,552. It didn’t even need the carry-over effect of 632.  Neat. 

So that’s the plan, guys.  I’m gonna work on Effect for a few days on Dragon, then switch to Death’s Avenger.  Need to get everything I can down before Enforced Family Time™. 

…hmm… I might be cutting Death’s Avenger down… depends on timing issues.  Stream of consciousness stuff is easier to work on when you are working in short periods of spread out time than editing.  We will see how much I can get down in the next six days.  I need to basically finish Effect in two days, then spend the next four days on DA… and I might not have Sunday to work on it either…

Eh, we will see. 

Oh, I was also asked by one of my editors who is no longer able to be a patron if I would ever go into Wheel of Time given my interest in fics set in that universe, along with what harem anime I’d like to go into if all my other fics/fic ideas were done.  Figured I’d share my answers here, see what you all thought, since I always enjoy seeing your opinions.

As for Wheel of Time, The short answer is no.  The longer answer is I don’t do tsundere very well, I dislike the built-in socio-sexual dynamics. I don’t think either Ranma or Harry would ever be comfortable or able to, well, get along with anyone in that world, if for very different reasons, so I would probably just go with the existing characters. 

Best I could do would be to take something like Shezza’s Altered Destiny and make it my own from the start.  That fic’s got a lot of things I like and covers a lot of time quickly.  The idea of gentling changing Rand’s ability to reach Saidin but not his destiny or Ta’varen status is fascinating. I would like to write a Rand who starts off badly mentally damaged, then builds himself back, with emotions being the last thing to truly come back.  I would love to write him just logically arguing with the elders and women in Two Rivers and then ignoring them when they can’t logically back up what they are saying, while giving his all to become a Blademaster.  From there, a few different adventures to let him and Galad meet, and for Rand to convince Galad to travel with him. I like the idea of two borthers just going around the world getting into trouble, righting wrongs and gathering allies accidentally, then roping Perrin and Mat in, thus creating still bigger and bigger changes all the while Morraine is still looking for a youth who can channel, and the Reds are trying to figure out how to gentle Rand again because he certainly isn’t normal and not being normal is bad.   Rand kind of accidentally starting a civil war in the tower and ousting the Black Ajah would be hilarious, while Galad would all be about reforming or simply breaking the Whitecloaks over his knee after wiping out their Questioners.  I’d keep Slayer as a great first enemy for the group, just like Shezza did, lean heavily into the adventure aspect of the four men traveling the world, gaining allies and solving problems.

 I would go for a Rand/Morraine/Elayne/Min(best girl) pairing instead of having Aviendha at all involved since, well see the bit about tsunderes.  I could easily map out a full campaign of changes from the start, then build up further, setting it into a series of arcs, culminating in the Final Battle.  Would love to go into another fantasy realm with a huge Good vs. Evil storyline like with Tolkien. But that is wishful thinking unless someone clones me.   

Oh, and as for fic recommendations:

Altered Destiny (obviously)

Dragonbind – on Ao3.  Very minor crossover with Tolkien.  Might seem like a typical harem funtime, but no lemons involved, and it’s really interesting.

Stamped – from the same author as Dragonbind.  Good, but also flawed, and goes downhill like it drove off a cliff the moment crossover girls and Waifu Catalog are mentioned.  Just no, stop reading at that point, and you have an okay, if quick, fic.

Ta’varen – the trio of boys wake up to their powers early.  Neat fic but doesn’t really go anywhere.

A Different Wheel – Tigraine survives. Cue big changes, and many of them good, in my opinion.

All of them are unfinished.  Alas. I didn’t find any on ficwad or space battles, but if anyone knows any from anywhere else, share ‘em please.

As for an anime… for funs and fucking up the canon, Mobuseka?  Not replacing Leon, but simply inserting Ranma.  No Luxion, but he’s pure Old Human strain despite his curse and Luxion starts giving him as much authority as Leon occasionally. Doesn’t care at all for being a lord, LOVES the whole adventurer life, and is more than willing to be just a blunt object at times.  Off the bat, it’d be a Vandel Vs Ranma rivalry, and a Ranma/Angelica pairing to start, maybe with Hertraude joining later on or becoming a little sister figure.   Gets in the way of Maries Harem plan before Leon does thanks to his Female form drawing in Chris and Greg, think a mix of Ryoga if he had a thing for Fem Ranma for Greg and Kuno for Chris.  Lots of breaking social mores because Ranma says fuck your normality.  Mylene trying to rein him in, thinking he’s a good boy, but failing, and him kicking Roland’s ass accidentally several times, making the king hate him.

Anyway, hope you all have a nice weekend, guys.  Earliest you will see Bhaalson Remodel is next Weekend, since I’ll only come back to it Thursday, and I’ve got no idea how quickly I will be able to finish it.

Edit: I just saw bits about the Supergirl movie. NO. Just no. My Kara's not a drunk, would hate the very idea, and wouldn't like to live in a dirty apartment. Kara is very much a country girl in her basic values, and that's... no. She's not quite a clean freak like Cassie is, but still, and she's a very-straightlaced girl. I don't think that this movie is going to be very good...
