You are correct and that annoyed me kinda, until tali's thoughts about it were mentioned. There is a process to do this through thermal and/or photonic energy, but that one needs very extreme heat and is usually observed in nuclear core melt downs like in Fukushima. And those create the perfect explosive ration of H2 to O2 for a nice explosion. I had to imagine that the oxygen air they get is just the air between snow crystals, that gets free if the snow becomes water. Instead Tali could have for example released some of the oxygen from her tanks?

2025-10-03 13:59:15 +0000 UTCThere is a process called electrolysis which splits water into hydrogen and oxygen atoms using electricity, but it's not the same thing as boiling water. All that would do is spread water vapor into the air that's already present. Edit: I had to Google it to make sure wasn't just completely wrong and apparently this works for other materials as well.
