A brief Question on Blurbs

So, this poll is kind of self-explanatory, but for those of you who aren’t SW fans, last month, on top of posting a Magic of the Force chapter, I posted a blurb of a new idea, the kernel of which came from Tellemicus Sundance put in my head.  The Muse hungrily fed on it, but it was honestly fun.  It only took me a day (admittedly, a full day with no RL distractions beyond exercising LOL) to write it up, and I thought it was a neat little project, from a story I will probably come back to once Magic of the Force is finished.

Yes, this is fact. I think going into the SW universe determined to stay away from politics and instead dive into commerce, the Outer Rim and exploration/slower character growth along with magic wackiness/experimentation could be a lot of fun.  The blurb isn’t a finished product, but it’s still a great starting point.

With the emphasis for the first week or more this month being on ATP, I figured I might need a break at some point.  Editing/expanding on my old work is HARD on my ADHD.  So I wondered if people would be interested in seeing something like that this month, and further, if people liked the idea of short blurbs in general.   I did that kind of thing several years ago, but most of them had to do with Semblance of Hope, a story in which I lost the plot, and my Homage to the old Anime Addventure story, Familiar of Zero/Ranma/Wonder Man crossover.

No explanation this time for the choices, as they are pretty self-explanatory LOL.  If I do post a small blurb, it will be one of three things – a follow-on to the SW short from May, a Ranma/SW story idea of my own, or a blurb on one of my MANY story ideas.

I would love for you to do the Harry/SW blurb you posted. That story is right up my alley. But make sure it’s something you want to do. Don’t let the people tell you what to write.

Honestly, as a fellow writer, I'd strongly advise you not to listen too hard to the poll on this one. Locking yourself down into only writing certain things and never allowing yourself to scratch a writing itch? Fastest way to turn writing into a chore. Which, from the way your deadlines have slowly shifted over the years, I think you're already suffering from. Let yourself write something fun from time to time, the rest of your writing will be less hellishly stressful for it.

Where is the option "Go for what you feel like, trust your instincts, and if it's not working out i'm sure people will let you know later?" xD I understand not wanting to let the ADHD rule you, but I also think there is a balance to be found in not always battling a part of you. If curiosity or inspiration is leading you in one direction, I think some great work can come out of that. You're still making progress on your stories, completing them, so you're far from ignoring everything else and losing yourself on side projects... So i think you should be fine allocating some more time to explore what pops in your mind? It seems part of a healthy writing process to include it and find the right balance.
