Update Me Poll Results... sort of.

Howdy all.  Sorry this is a few days later than I hoped, but finishing Climbing Together took me several days longer than it should have.  However, bringing the AHEM to a proper conclusion took me around ten thousand words longer than I expected, and the rest of the chapter kind of ballooned after I realized this Ranma really needed to stay in the hospital for several weeks to get over the injuries he took regardless of ki healing. So… yeah, um it’s 50,000 words, when I expected it to be 35,000.  Sorry, LOL.

Hiryo has yet to get the Effect chapter back to me, which is a little worrisome since he’s normally very quick.  I hope that nothing bad has happened there.  Regardless, I will be posting that chapter here and over on fanfic for Christmas, and Climbing Together the next day for Hannukah.

Hiryo, if you’re reading this and going, HUH, wait I don’t have that chapter, maybe check your spam folder?  I know that a few times Tomon’s responses to me and Nad Destroyer’s get caught in mine for some truly bizarre reason, since, you know, you’re all three in my contacts list.

Speaking of Tomon also hasn’t gotten the Stallion chapter back to me.  I will be jogging his elbow within moments on that score, and hopefully he’ll get it back to me quickly enough to post that chapter over on Christmas. 

And now, for the… well, hell, you all could see how this was going even before I weighted the votes.  Even if all of my biggest donors voted for MW, it’s doubtful that…

Flawless Victory.  Unfortunately… it isn’t going to matter.  I learned this morning that not only will I be sharing a room at the family gathering, but that room will be the living room.  And it’s not just the immediate family members that’re going to be there, but everyone.

I have also worked out how large the planned FILFy chapter was supposed to be. 50,000 words minimum.  ARGH.  Worse, there isn’t a natural place to cut it off after the action begins.  I could take out one of the breaks in the action where we go to a ‘meanwhile back home’ scene to give a break for the readers from the unending magical violence, but even that would only drop it down by 3,000 words or so.  Even setting the stage is going to take a bit, because the fight’s going to be happening in Tartarus, which is… going to be interesting.

There’s, there’s just no chance I could work on a chapter that large with the constant interruptions, the sheer lack of Time-On-Fic I will have from Friday until New Years.  If I tried, the quality would suffer badly (not even talking about using Grammarly, just general quality), which isn’t even mentioning the fact there’s no chance I could finish it in time to get the chapter out in time for an editor to look at it.

I hate it. If the next chapter wasn’t so combat heavy, I might try it even so, but working on combat scenes, especially numerous combat scenes all going on at the same time, is tough to do in little fifteen-forty minutes bits for me at least.  I’d like to spend a few hours on each scene, each scene having one or two sittings.  This is realllly frustrating. The only way to do any work will be to work until the wee hours, and then trying to act all friendly and nice on five hours of sleep a night… if I even can sleep well.  Which is a whole other question. 

So… I have made an Authorial Decision.  I will not kill myself to get out a single chapter of dubious quality.  Instead, I will kill myself working on two chapters, one of which will be of decent quality which I can finish in time to get out to the editor. Thus, I will be posting a chapter of King of Champions by the New Years.  Yes, this will effect the Patron Only poll next month.  It will not show up there, and Heroes of the High Seas will be getting the carry over effect next month.   But that chapter should only be 30,000 words, and not nearly as combat intensive.

FILFy Teacher will be updated for the Super Bowl. That’s on February 9th for those of you who don’t worship at the feet of America’s National Football League. It will cover the entire series of battles in Tartarus and move us to within 3 chapters at most of bringing FILFY to a conclusion. I will also work on editing ATP and get a revamped chapter (54) out on fanfic by New Years Night or the week after.
