November 2024 Ranma Poll

Hey all.  So, Climbing Together is up.  Effect of a Horse and a Dragon is hopefully going to be done Thursday.  It will probably be around 16,000 words, just because of how long Climbing is.  I will shut down and begin work on the HP winner then (after hopefully going over FILFy, don’t worry, I will jog Nad Destroyer’s elbow tonight on getting the chapter back to me).

But going forward, given the importance of the next chapter of Stallion, which is almost certainly going to win the Ranma poll (if it doesn’t, won’t I look silly), I feel I should give Tomon and Hiryo as much time as possible to work on it. That means it will be my starting priority in November.  It will be followed by my Patron Only poll, where Heroes of the High Seas will return… but be faced with two HP stories… one of which will be getting the carry-over effect… yeah…

Third will be the HP poll, and fourth the Making Waves chapter. I may post a poll related to that at the end of the month. I REALLLY wanted to finish either FILFy or MW before the year ended, but that just isn’t going to happen.  Not unless I drop at least one of my poll stories and even then, doubtful.  So I would be interested to see what people think I should do to hurry those two stories to completion so I can go on to other projects.

Anyway, here are the choices for the Ranma poll for next month:

Stallion of the Line – Ranma/One Piece crossover:  Blackbeard curses his change of fate and tries to escape the marines while Tsuru and Garp talk on the lip of a new geographic feature.  With even the battle on Impel Down dying out, it falls to Tsuru to inform the World Government of the disaster, although to her shock, the other Gorosei already know that one of their own has passed. Picking up the pieces begins in the waters around Impel Down, while elsewhere, Raffy, Robin, Hancock and Vivi have a heart to heart which opens the door to many things, right before the door to their room is opened by Garp, who has questions of his own.  The victorious Straw Hats and their Kuja allies head to Amazon Lily, with Frankie, Vivi and Raffy beginning work on repairs as Garp leaves, heading out and following a biblio card to someone. Over the next few days as the crew sails on and Ranma and the rest enjoy a break, the reverberations of Whitebeard’s Stand begins to spread, causing changes both within his crew and throughout the world. The World Government, reeling not just from their losses in the war but the actions of the Revolutionaries, tries to control the narrative, which works for a time, until Ranma sees a News Seagull over Amazon Lily.  Then a wicked, evil, dirty idea comes to his mind. One the WG is not going to like at all.  Bounties are discussed then raised again, and plans for the future are made, some of which will make the WeeGee even angrier. Although not as much as Ace’s plans going forward….

Gods and Devils and Wild Horse, Oh My – Ranma/DxD crossover: With Ranma sidelined by his work colleague, a very persistent stalker attempts to press his suit, running into one barrier after another before finding himself faced with an irate monk and a furious redhead. Diodora’s attempt to use political and social pressure on Rias fail, and a fight erupts on the temple grounds, with some unusual results.  It turns out that the monks don’t know how everything there works, only some things.  Meanwhile, Saeko faces the last trial before claiming her new blade, which turns out to be quite a shocking experience. Meanwhile, Vali and Ranma both are having a ‘fun’ time, with one facing an enemy whose magical attacks are frustratingly annoying and the other a guy who’s far better at midair combat than he is.  The fight continues until it is interrupted by someone wanting to join in on this monkey business, whereupon a bit of Ranma’s past in China is brought up, a wild Shampoo arrives, and a fight becomes chaotic in the extreme with only one of the people involved feeling at home in the madness.  Rias proves a bit too much for Diodora until he uses his trump card, forcing Rias to flee, until aid unlooked for comes out of a well.

‘shocking experience’.  Yes, yes I had to make that pun. Don’t judge me!

This poll will end on the 2nd of November.

Also, impressions of the Ranma remake:  Fem-Ranma’s hair should be red, not pink. Her eyes are blue, not red. The curves are a bit off. Akane seems to look even younger with less curves going by the PE scene in episode 3 (I think). I could see her as attractive several times in the original, but not in this one. She just seems to be too much like a little doll, I guess.  I am… concerned about some of the word changes. I am curious how they will treat Shampoo and Kodachi, and in general, the whole multiple fiancés thing.

Will Ranma and Shampoo have their little kiss of marriage? Will Akane act as she did in the original? Worse? Will Ranma just take it as he did?

Oh, and will Ranma continue to treat his female form as just a thing?  Because at no point in the original, except when under the influence of brain trauma or magic, did Ranma identify himself as a woman. His female form was just a thing, a tool he used when it suited him, it in no way impacted his identity.  Even the way I have most of my Ranma’s acting, getting used to their female form, understanding feminine modesty, even being open to being with a girl while in that form, is not what the original would do.

So I am watching, but worried.

And if there is even a hint of Ranma/Ryoga I am out.  Goodbye.  I will cancel my Netflix account and fuck this shit I’m out.

Comments

Basically a protest vote at this point, but go GF&WHOM!

Arkos Sloth

Definitely want to see the aftermath of stallion here. Looking forward to seeing Morgans cash in that exclusive that Raffy owes him, I suspect it will be more than worth it for everyone bar the WG.

Thomas Edwards

I'm excited to see more of Stallion.
