I fully agree with you about not wanting to be bogged down with travel between the Archipelago and Impel Down. Even knowing that the chapter was more about the travel it was great to see the development of characters without Luffy there as a buffer to temper the different personalities for the crew that he has brought together. We can see how Robin and Boa are sure of themselves and the only friction that I could see coming from them would potentially be Robin’s budding interest in females and how she would go about telling Boa that she is at the very least sexually attracted to her. It was good to see Boa taking charge and splitting up the groups and being that leader without Luffy around and how she was able to logically and compassionately speak with the different members. With the development of the characters I was really happy to see Vivi make a reappearance and that not only her but Luffy still has some feelings and emotions for one another. Considering the way the World Government is acting in regards to her and the fact that she ate the Suna Suna no mi I feel that they want to get her underneath their thumbs to control her and the country. Which could lead her to having to flee and join the Straw Hats which would be wonderful and expand the relationship between the main cast, could see the country flying the Straw Hats flag like some countries do in the New World, or even joining the Revolutionary Army. I still hope that at some point the two of them get in contact and actually have a conversation where Luffy and Vivi tell each other that they love one another and are able to have a relationship similar to that of Boa. Now the whole thing between Laki and Rayleigh is that something that was planned or was it a suggestion? I am not against it, it is just that the whole scenario kind of felt forced in its application or even a bit of a crutch to have him included and invested in a way that he was not before. As I felt that in the anime, he became like a father figure for Luffy when he needed someone in his life after everything that happened at Marineford. Whereas the relationship that could have been developed here would have just been that of a teacher student. I loved what is happening between Zoro and Gion and it would be great if they could become and established couple, especially if she were to leave the Marines after seeing something that the Marine’s allowed to happen, turn a blind eye to, or seeing the Straw Hats going against corruption in ways that she is not allowed. I do like the fact Zoro is at least interested in her and we have seen the interest in Perona, but what has Gion standing above Perona is the simple fact that there is a greater shared interest between the characters and more importantly the two of them will be able to push one another to greater and higher heights. The only other character that I feel could have been someone to be paired with Zoro is Tashigi but then you run into the problem is he actually in love with her as her or is he projecting some of the feelings that he had for Kunai. It was also hilarious to watch Sanji have such a breakdown about a lack of nicotine and it makes me wonder what Luffy is going to do about that in the future. As that could potentially be a major weakness for him and the crew depending upon what happens. I think the one thing that I still not liking is the fact that Garp and Ace firmly believe that Luffy is dead. I know that Ace has been mentally torturing himself while be stuck down there for so long so it would have made sense. But Garp saw him in person, he knew what he did against the Buster Call, what he did in the fight against Enel; Garp is not stupid he would have been able to put two and two together and come to the realization that so long as there is nobody he could still be alive. As it still shocks me that out of the ones on the Grand Line that knew him the best they all think he is dead while Vivi the one who has known him the shortest still believes him to be alive. So I am really looking forward to when Luffy/Ranko is standing before the two idjits and smiling that devil may care smile while telling them he has come to rescue them. Which I also know is when that chapter is going to end as it would be the perfect place for a cliffhanger much to my annoyance.

2023-03-08 15:55:53 +0000 UTCI am a bit disappointed we haven't hit the War yet, but that's only cause I know when you get to it it's gonna be so good. Seeing Garp go nuts and show he's not just his mythos and is still someone to be reckoned with was great, hope he gets out of Impel for the War seeing him fight side by side with Whitebeard will be both funny and awesome. Also just as a side note lightning is roughly 4 times hotter than magma it just normally only sticks around for less then a second, something Luffy with his DF could probably get around.
