2021 January Small Story Poll

Hey guys. It’s a bit later in the day than I had hoped but looking over GDWHOM with Grammarly took it’s normal several hours despite Mordechai Sheinson doing such a good job of starting me off. Anyway, here it is, and as usual, it is between two HP and two Ranma fics.

Stallion of the Line - Ranma/One Piece Crossover:  Haki clashes with ice as Luffy battles Aokiji from one part of the island to the next, shattering more than the island as they go.  The battle is the hardest one yet, forcing Luffy to do the hardest thing he's ever done: realize he can't win, forcing him to retreat.  Later, after being saved out at sea, Luffy recuperates, while He and Robin have a heart to heart.  Meanwhile Aokiji, who did not get through the battle unscathed, meet with other marines, one of whom decides it's time to end the Straw Hat threat and that of Nico Robin once and for all.  Later, a bizarre frog is met, along with an even more bizarre train-person and rabbit, followed by still more bizarreness for the crew thanks to Luffy knowing something about ships thanks to Shanks.  Following the sea-train, the Straw Hats arrive at Water Seven with plans, unaware that other people have plans as well, and they are not friendly.

FILFy Teacher – HP/Highschool DxD Crossover: Stopping by on his way to Egypt proves to be a good choice, as Hermione and Harry have a long, and very in depth conversation, starting with revelations and ending with revelations and Harry and company gaining some more information on what is going on in Egypt. Arriving there, Harry meets with several blondes and redheads, while elsewhere in Alexandria, a certain black cat runs into trouble. That trouble soon rises all along the Nile, as the powers that be in Egypt act up, some making bids for freedom, while others act out a masterplan. Harry and his allies get involved as the dead rise, hippos attack and alligators walk with the legs of men, while back in Kuoh, Rias and Akeno experiment and make some interesting discoveries. With blood in their eye and blood on their various implements of destruction, Harry leads his friends first in an investigation, then to a city which time has forgotten, hoping to put a stop to plans which may well have been thousands of years in the making.

A Third Path to the Future – HP/Marvel Crossover:  After checking in with his people, Harry and co. are approached by Deathbird, who want to recruit them. Harry and the others have to decide whether to go with it, or not, and make the final decision on whether or not to commit an act which, even in their own terms, is a war crime. But heavy hangs the head that wears the crown, and Harry, faced with the reality of the self-destructive, hateful pride and nihilism of the Shi’ar, prepare for the inevitable betrayal. A party back on the Shi’ar capital occurs but doesn’t go in any way that the locals or Harry could expect. Vanguard leads his team in, with disastrous results for the Shi’ar Empire as a whole. D’ken reaps the rewards for his various misdeeds at the hands of Havoc, while Harry, Jean and the magic users, bar Steven Strange who refuses to take part, do their part to make all information about them and Earth to disappear. Mission accomplished, the Custodes Mundi leave for earth, with a brief stopover, while back on earth, Emma and Steve lock heads on justice versus political necessity, and a ship leaves Earth, unseen by any, destination, unknown.

Gods and Devils and Horses, Oh My– Ranma/Highschool DxD crossover: While a very big man uses his very large voice in the Vatican, Ranma is subjected to a few more last moments of eye-dropping goodness. Afterward, Ranma and the others head back to Kuoh, where they discover a human cockroach by the name of Happosai has moved in. Eventually however, Ranma deciding to bite the bullet after getting some good advice, has a conversation with his friends, then Rias and Saeko, while Koneko has her own long-overdue conversation, which does not go anywhere near where either she or the other participant could ever have foreseen. Meanwhile, Gabriel, after having been thoroughly humiliated, receives a call to come home, makes some promises, and passes on some information. The next day, Ranma receives some news that he sees as excellent, Rias passes on some news and takes some tests, and plans begin to form both in Kuoh and elsewhere.

And sorry to say it Harry fans, but my votes will go for whichever Ranma story looks like it can win. Magic seems to be very much in the lead for the Large story poll, and Bhaalson Remodel is being updated this month too, so I want to make certain I give my Ranma fans something more this month than just the Homage or Semblance episodes.
