Potential Changes to Patreon Format (Poll)
Added 2019-11-19 03:57:52 +0000 UTCRunning this to gauge interest. The long story short is that I want to try creating a bit more of a flexible setup that helps me prevent burnout, which I've been getting doing what feels like nothing but sketches constantly. I would like to have my patrons' input before I make this change.
Current Format (for reference):
- 3 sketches per week (12 per month total)
- 1 finished piece per month (poll-selected)
- up to 12 $30 tier patron features (included in the 12 per month total of sketches)
- 1 comic page every 2 weeks (when a comic is running)
- Patron-submitted theme suggestions (bi-monthly)
Proposed Format:
- 1 sketch per week (4 total, following monthly theme)
- 2 finished pieces per month (my choice)
- 1 $30 tier patron finished piece per month (4 max, round-robin style on a 4-month cycle)*
- 1 finished piece (poll-selected)
- Patreon poll to determine monthly theme (bi-monthly)
- 1 comic page per week (while comics are running)
No rewards should change, other than those at the $30 tier outlined above, if I adopt this format. Stickers will still be mailed out monthly. Essentially I would be moving from 12 sketches and 1 finished piece per month to 4 sketches per month and 4 finished pieces per month, as well as an increase in comic output.
*This would mean that every patron at the $30 tier gets a finished piece (either 1 character with background or two characters) every four months. Months without a corresponding patron will be filled with an extra finished piece that is my choice.

I understand that I need to worry about myself! Unfortunately, part of worrying about myself is keeping my fans happy enough to pay my bills, so I have to try to figure out a balance between work and play, I guess. I'm really hoping that this new format would give me that; it's personal freedom without the stress of 3 new images every week that are almost entirely dependent on me coming up with them haha

What *we* want should be second to what you can deliver. Preventing burnout is key, yes it's for our enjoyment, but more importantly your enjoyment! You should take enough care that you still enjoy making art!
