The market here in Australia doesn't have the competiton of somewhere like the US, so prices aren't always comparable, but we do alright as ASIA isn't that far away for us. What's always a gimme, is that building one is going to get you so much more for less. I'm assuming by your comment that you likely don't have experience with that. I recommend learning at some point, as it gets easier and easier as years to by. You can't plug things in the wrong way anymore lol. As long as you're matching components with the motherboard, you're sweet. A lot of websites will do that for you, or at least have product info that shows compatibility. Even better, lots of places sell bundle. They'll have a board, CPU and GPU combo, and there's usually always a discount on the bundle vs buying individually. For the same price as a current gen console, you can build a pretty good rig. Considering they're about to drop the PS5 pro with it's zen 2 CPU while PC's are on zen 5, you can see where the benefits are. But the same applies for buying a completed build for the same price. Not as powerful, but more than comparable in performance. PC vs whatever console is a good search to get some info on YouTube. A lot of games I'm just playing on a 4 year old laptop with a PS4 controller. I can sit up in bed comfortably and chill. Of course, the same specs in a tower is going to be much cheaper than an LT. But this thing, as old as it is, is still doing just fine with modern games running an i7 and RTX 2070 Super. Some will still even cruise on Ultra settings, but even running things on High, your games will still look better than console as you have way more control over your video settings. Then let Steam Wishlist save you money by notifying you of sales. Unless you absolutely have to play a game when it releases. Even then, some go on sale the first week. I've been seeing that a lot recently. Plus there's bundles often. You'll often get 2 or 3 games for the price of 1. Just last month they had a Sniper Elite sale. I played the first one and missed 2 and 3, then played 4 on console (co-op was a blast). But I got all 5 games cheaper than the cost of 5 alone.

Games overall are so much cheaper that even if you have a top end system, you save in the long run if you're a heavy gamer. But damned if I can PVP on PC. The cheating culture ruins every multiplayer experience.
