Good Morning January: Annual Awards Eligibility Post
Added 2022-01-03 17:38:01 +0000 UTCSince I don't really have a proper blog anymore and my website is undergoing some updates, I decided I would put this bad boi here. This is like a blog, after all. As close as I think internet culture will ever get again.
I know it's annoying, I know people can get weird about it, but to be honest, even as a fan, there is just so much good science fiction and fantasy coming out every year now that I need authors to post these lists just to keep up!
So here's what came out in 2021 what I wrote. If you nominate for Hugos, Nebulas, World Fantasy Awards, Locus Awards, and the rest of the beautiful statuary collection our community has, please consider them if you're inclined to, and if you're on the fence about whether to do that nominating dance, hey, unrelated funny story, I missed a Hugo nomination last year by 7 votes.
But the point isn't vote for me so much as always, always, vote for what you love. And there's a ton out there to love. Just participate. Complaining about results later on has far more weight if you do. ;)
Here's my 2021 babies:
Short Story
The Sin of America (Uncanny Magazine)
Sister Is Another World for Always (from Folk and Fairy Tales of Azeroth. Note: this is a tie-in work so not, I believe, eligible for the standard awards, but is eligible for media tie-in writing awards such as the Scribe Award)
Novelette
L'Esprit d'Escalier (Tor.com)
Novella
Long Form Dramatic Presentation
Batman: The Blind Cut (with K. Arsenault Rivera and Martin Cahill
Short Form Dramatic Presentation
Any of the Batman episodes are eligible here, I wrote the premier (Copper and Silver) and the finale (The Aristocrats) and all three of us wrote episode six (The Egg Bag)
Poetry
The Retirement of Mechagirl (Self-published right here! But still eligible for the Rhysling)

Did I mention how much I enjoyed this Zatanna story? Would love to read more Gothamverse from you when the stars align.
