My aunt is dying. I don't really know how to process this. I don't know how to handle a world that doesn't have her in it.

I write about music a lot because I lean on music a lot. That's what music is for: transporting you to a different world or time or place or feeling. Music helps anchor the nebulous things in life - you might be eighty years old in a nursing home that smells like stale breath and pudding, but one song can instantly make you sixteen on the beach that smells like salt and sunscreen.

In honor of my aunt, this month's theme is: Young Punkery. She was in a punk band when she was younger and I think she'd enjoy going back there.

Just give me your best music about being punk and young or punk while young or songs from when punk was young.

-Though we do try to avoid promoting terrible people, everyone understands that sometimes you just love a thing and didn't know the artist was a suppurating dicktoad when we fell in love, and now we're stuck with the beautiful association and don't want to let the dicktoads win. That's fine, just keep it on this side of Butthole Jams: The Bin-Dweller's Collection. Or at least explain why it should come out of the bin!

-If you're wondering if a song you want to include "counts," the answer is always yes.
