Character Postcard Poll
Added 2021-09-28 17:28:45 +0000 UTCAlright cat and kittens (am I right? Eff off Carol Baskin I wrote about kitties all morning I'm allowed) who will it be this month?
We had a bunch of characters requested from short stories by the Mad Post Doc folks, and it occurs to me that some of you may not have actually read all those stories since a couple are a decade old and a couple are brand-stinking new, so here's a list of where to find them, if you want to make an informed choice. Or just play whack-a-mole with the toggle button!
P.S. If you haven't read White Lines on a Green Field...I think it's one of my best pieces. You should read it. Especially if you read my Ted Lasso essay. Go on. Have a treat.
Ok! SHORT STORIES COMIN AT YA.
The Sin of America (Uncanny Magazine, January 2021)
Color, Heat, and the Wreck of the Argo (Strange Horizons, November 2020)
The Seething Sea Sufficeth Us (Ok, wow, I'm glad I decided to link all these because otherwise I wouldn't know that the org that commissioned this story seems to not host previous years/themes once the next year is up, so the story is no longer online. I'm going to put it up right after this poll so you can all read it for free forever since doesn't matter got paid and now copyright returns to me, ha ha! That title will turn into a link in ten minutes or so.)
Planet Lion (Uncanny Magazine, May 2015)
Fade to White (Clarkesworld, August 2012)
White Lines on a Green Field (Subterranean Magazine, Fall 2011)
The Future Is Blue (originally in Drowned Worlds 2017, reprinted March 2019 in Clarkesworld)
Silently and Very Fast (originally standalone book by WSFS in 2011, reprinted October 2011 in Clarkesworld)
