Preview of Upcoming Content: Anime Eyebrow Effect

I'm sure that you've noticed it before - in anime, a character's eyebrows are often visible through their hair. You know what I'm talking about, right?

Yandere Simulator's upcoming character models are going to feature these awesome, expressive new eyebrows that can bend in ways the old eyebrows never could - but the majority of the game's cast has long hair that covers their eyebrows! What can be done about that?

Fortunately, this problem was solved decades ago; the solution is to assign a special shader to a character's eyebrows so that they render in front of the character's hair. The most famous example of this is probably the iconic eyebrows of Link from The Wind Waker:

90% of this guy's personality is conveyed through his eyebrows! Most of his charm would vanish immediately if his big floppy hair was hiding those glorious brows!

So, to let the new character model shine as much as possible, it will use a shader that causes the silhouette of the character's eyebrows to be visible even if their hair is blocking the player's direct view of the eyebrows. Please take a look at the preview video above to understand how it will look!

Oh - and if you're thinking "Something's strange about the length of Osana's shirt..." it's a blendshape test. Don't worry about it too much.

Yeah, good point. Anime-style effects probably won't appear on the serious characters like Megami, but definitely wouldn't feel out of place on the sillier characters, like Midori.

About this face model, I see how you have applied the bone additions to the iris-pupils and tongue. I was apprehensive of the tongue one but it turns out well. I've paused randomly during the animation and it never looks weird. Good job πŸ‘ I like the addition of the vein popping symbol. It definitely suits Osana ! Anime visual language could be used for the "normal" characters but not "abnormal" characters to emphasize the differences and especially when the abnormal characters are a serious threat to the player. For example, Megami should probably not have visual signs but expressions changing whereas Kuu should have subtle visual signs but no expression. As for Shiromi, she should probably never change her expression and not have visual signs. This is a good way to show each of their personalities while keeping the serious tone of Yandere Simulator.
