Devlog: June Report (2021) part 2

Hey guys!

A new update of After Years is just around the corner... and while this is supposed to be good news and a real moment to celebrate, the truth is, not everything went my way...

A thousand and one ideas...

As I already mentioned in my last devlog entry, this update was super difficult to pull off and the main reason behind it is my lack of experience in writing NSFW scenes.

Long story short, because I had no clear idea on the general flow of the scene (on what the characters were supposed to do in such an intimate moment), I ended up writing a LOT of stuff that didn't make it into the game. And while it was still a really fun experience writing these interactions/dialogues, trying various things and imagining where they might lead to, the obvious downside is that in the end, I didn't manage to finish what I planned for this build...

It's funny to admit it, but it was just a few days ago when it finally hit me - this scene I'm writing right now, is probably one of the most important scenes in the whole game (or at least Angus's route). After all, romance/sex scenes are supposed to be the core element of this game - this is what we’ve all (or at least most of us) been waiting for all these months or even years. And because of that, this is not something I should neglect or where I can cut the corners, just so I can meet another deadline - this is a part of the story that must be perfect in every possible way, written and presented to the best of my abilities.

Having that in mind I decided to change my strategy and instead of writing a quick closure just to 'get it done', I opted to make another smaller but polished release (and by that, giving myself more time to 'make things right').

Get to the point already! D:<

Simply put, the upcoming Patreon exclusive demo (which is coming tomorrow - June 29th), will be available in the form of "Work In Progress" build. And that means:

• The good

- the build is very similar in size to the last demo (so there’s a lot of fun content to read),

- despite being labeled as WiP, everything you'll see there is 100% legit, polished, and (for most part) proofreaded,

• The bad

- the build still lacks CGs,

- the build ends up in a middle of a very spicy scene*

*IMPORTANT NOTE: this build ends up in a very random moment, in the middle of an important, spicy scene. If you are either a very dedicated fan of Angus’s story or a fan of NSFW stories, I highly recommend waiting for the proper v.0.14.0 release, to simply experience these events in the best possible way.

For everyone else, who are either looking for more fun dialogues between the characters, or would like to give me some feedback on such an important scene, please go on and enjoy! - I’m sure you’ll love it.

As for the full v.0.14.0 build, it’s obviously coming ASAP. When exactly I can't tell yet, because I might still expand the scene even further if only I'll think of more fun interactions, but it shouldn't take very long (I’ll be aiming to release it in between 1-2 weeks).
