Important: An update on sales tax

While some of you might already have heard about this, I decided to step up as well and openly talk about the new sales tax issue to makes things as clear as possible.
Long story short, due to recent law changes, starting from July 1st, Patreon will alter the way it charges it's patrons by adding sales tax on some pledges . This change will affect citizens of United States, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Russia and about ten other countries.
Patreon is fully transparent with us about this matter, so you probably already received an e-mail from them regarding this issue. As for me, following their guides, I managed to make all the changes I could in order to decrease these additional costs.
The idea is - I strongly believe that you guys support me, because you want to see After Years to be a complete game - you want to keep this project alive and see Welkin's story through the end. That's why no matter the tier you joined, I always place the "general support" as the most important benefit (which, in most cases should not be taxable).
And I promise to continue working closely with Patreon to ensure Im able to save you as much money as possible when it comes to sales tax.
Here's a few additional lines of information:
- Less than half of all patrons will be charged sales tax, and for most, the amount will be very small. For example, sales tax rates in the US range from 4% to 11%, so on a $5 pledge, that would be between 20 cents and 55 cents.
- Whether or not you will be charged sales tax depends on your location, and what is considered taxable there. Not every pledge is taxable, not all benefits are taxable in every location, and sometimes only a fraction of a pledge will be taxable. The money that Patreon collects as a result of these laws are paid directly to local governments.
