Hot take, I know, but I'm starting to think that The End of Evangelion is the ultimate coming-of-age story. It's what every adolescent feels elevated to a cosmic level, but still deeply personal. It's angry, it's bizarre, it's like the universe itself is going through puberty. But the only way out is through.
