Episode 47 - Not Focused Enough For a Witty Title

On today's episode of Acid, we discuss The Rings of Power, the ideas that lie behind free speech, the misunderstanding of one's own references, as well as a terrible Jordan Peterson impression.
Enjoy.

Agreed! I feel this especially with the ongoing ‘trans debate’. Trans people are being used as political punching bags for no sane reason. It’s utterly ridiculous on both sides and leads angry individuals away from putting their anger to good use against… oh, i don’t know… the powers that be, perhaps???

Kids. kids.... you do know you are preoccupied with what people are or are not wearing, right? Right? ;-) Is it your responsibility to worry or get upset about what people have on their bodies. It's in some ways bigger than you - you can't control or change it.... but you can do your own thing. Like your comments on Amazon versus what we can create. Equivalents have happened through pop culture and will always change. Someone's precious passions will always be appropriated, chopped, cut, and bastardised. What can you do about it and what exactly are you battling if Primark come out with a Tarkovsky shirt collection? If you're going to judge and shame someone, judge their ignorance or hatred or harmful actions. Why a t-shirt? Maybe that's just a difference or a value that differs between us. Maybe when you're older, it will matter less. Maybe it won't. I feel like a but of a c*nt for always challenging this trend of comment, because I know under that is a principle I do value and respect :-) But if I saw you shouting/shaming at someone in the street because you've chosen to think they don't know who the band is on their shirt - based on what? Their age? Their gait? Their hair? I will be compelled to defend that person and shame you right back. ---------------------------------- Sorry for spamming, and thanks for keeping the juices flowing!

Interesting Luiza says about people struggling to organise politically right down to making friends..... I can see that too. When I consider Facebook mums getting stressed about things in Facebook comments, or meatheads getting upset their masculinity is being threatened by another female lead Marvel film, or rage about some far off conflict on Twitter...... I always simply wish that they finally stop..... take a look outside, take a look at their neighbour, take a look at the person walking down the street...... I think there is power is letting go of the online horrors and hatred that we receive constantly and just look at the next human being - think of them, empathise with them, help them, encourage them..... it makes a difference. The world is special and people are all the same. It's a barrier to hold ourselves separately. To think we are better than others. To be afraid of others. Practice gratitude for the next person and what they might be capable of.
