On altered anatomy, is there an element of fascination with the uncanny? Especially with facial manipulation are we naturally drawn to that which is grotesque? Things which are ‘slightly off’ tend to capture our attention.

Social media fitness business is toxic. Deeply toxic. A prime reason to stay away from platforms like IG. There is a widespread rot at the core of our culture and it's around image.... not fitness, not health.... image. It permeates so deeply. Makes me wonder how Demi Moore's new film The Substance is going to challenge the whole thing.... IF they have the guts to do it without resorting to the goofy, like most mainstream things do. As someone who suffers quite severely with body dysmorphia and disordered eating (which I am addressing - but have been battling without success for 12+ years), maybe I am not the right person to address or discuss that stuff rationally.... or maybe that gives me more authority to. Maybe 'authority' is wrong - maybe it's authenticity and urgency. The movie 'Orlando, My Political Biography', though not amazing, made some great points about acceptance and ownership of one's body, and about the beauty/body modification industry. It helped me see from another perspective and through a lens I hadn't considered before.
