Great to hear you and your friends are focusing more on your aspirations. Anyone wanting to work on a video game always fascinates me. Something that I’m definitely hoping to do soon on this Patreon is collaborating with many of you with either your projects or my own. I think there’s many possibilities and will be happy to help.

Oh man I'm late to the party. So excited to hear that you guys are pushing forward with your true ambitions. I'm experiencing something similar myself, I'm finally starting to cultivate a consistent routine that I can stick to and feeling motivated to start on my videogame and dabbling into learning an instrument. On top of that my longtime friends are starting their comic book project they've been sitting on for a decade, and I spoke with a coworker today who is now quitting his job to pursue his true passions. I like to think there is something in the air right now nudging all of us towards fulfilling our purpose. Its going to be sad to see Cinema Cartography run its course but I suppose its time for a refreshing future.

Hi, Lewis and Louisa. Your work has meant a lot to me over the years. I really feel like my understanding of cinema and art in general has grown exponentially because of you. Thank you so much, and best wishes for your family. Take all the time you need.

In my opinion, you're going in the right direction Lewis. I had a conversation with my mother this morning about how I think the only way to be a transgressive artist today is to be an anti-attention seeker. It's hard as an artist because you want people to engage with your art but at the same time I don't want to be apart of this "look at me!" culture. I think it's good to at least be thoughtful about how much you're playing the game and how you want to evolve as you continue as an artist. I'm older than both of you so I especially admire that you're thinking in this direction while still in your 20s.

Hi Lewis and Luiza, I'm very sorry to hear about Lewis's father. I went through a similar experience. It's weird to write this message (relatively somewhat) publicly, but the only advice I can give is to do your best to rest when you can so you can process both what's happened and anything that might happen in the future, good and bad. Breathing exercises sound like an optimal approach. I hate using the imperative mood so I won't give any more "orders", but I agree that the focus should always be the art, and any artist needs to feel refreshed to execute his or her craft. Thank you so much for everything you have given us and take all the time you need. My warmest best, Sophia

Glad to hear that your Dad is on the mend and stable again Lewis, I recently lost my Mum to cancer and can understand what a shock it is when a loved one's health suddenly becomes uncertain and unpredictable. Take as much time as you need and use it any way you please :) The community and discourse you've cultivated here is truly important and no matter what you both are creating, I believe you will always have an audience consisting of a 'collective of individuals.' I am greatly anticipating the launch of your production company and to experiencing your creations whatever time that is in the promising future. Many thanks as always for the inspiration and determination you provide me, you are both truly cherished!

On a second note I love that this is becoming a space to share work. No likes, no ads, just a safe space to share and get feedback within an intelligent and interesting community. When I think of the artists that I admire the most, they have almost all come from a place of artistic community where sharing, encouraging, and criticising each others work set them up for greatness. These spaces are important and for many reasons they are so much harder to build in modern society.

I’m really excited to hear more of your work. Especially since you yourself seem very satisfied with the direction you’re taking things.

Esteban Rodriguez

I’m so happy you guys have got to this place. I’m so sorry that it’s taken a tragedy to get here but sometimes this is the way. And you don’t sound tired to me, you sound clear and grounded. Sending love and praying for you both.

Rebecca Orton

if there is any single thing i carry with me from your contributions, it is a profound inspiration to live life brazenly, with poise, and to express it as such. thank you for sharing and leading by example. looking forward, and best wishes

I'm really happy that I gave up on Spotify (and other paid streaming services) and social media, re-started this year from scratch on SoundCloud and I'm starting uploading my self-produced demos; I plan on starting a fundraiser campaign to professionally record my songs when I get more traction. It's all about taking your art and controlling its production and distribution by the horns. It's gonna take a while, but I'm happy with the path that I've taken.

The situation you've been through kinda reminds me of Stevie Wonder: when he was about to release "Innervisions", he had a serious car accident that put him in a six-day coma and led him to a spiritual awakening. But he made it through. And the funniest, craziest thing is that he had already written and recorded "Higher Ground". I am dying to see what you've got artistically going. If The Cinema Cartography needs to be sacrificed, so be it; what you guys gave to the world over the past ten years has been immense. We'll be there to support you. You helped me to show a entire universe of film I wasn't aware to when I was seventeen, still in high school; I'm twenty-five now and I can safely say that this channel changed my perspective on so many things not just in art, but in life. Whatever your hearts desire, go for it.

J George
