Also just into the void, it would be interesting to hear your takes on accessibility to film/streaming services suffocating accessibility, the deliteracy of file sharing as a result of that, what a modern film self-education even looks like Growing up in Australia the vast majority of films I now love were almost completely unavailable to me through regular means, without sites like TPB/secret-cinema etc. I’d be much more naïve to the breadth of cinema history. Yet now people are unknowingly starving on a diet of Netflix originals, franchises, remakes… anyway :)

2023-10-27 20:30:24 +0000 UTCHonestly, finding people that are still so ardently about honoring the great masters of the past (and not ressenting the history of the arts for underrepresting some social groups) and trying to act on the present to build the future is the most refreshing thing in the world to me.
