On creative discipline

Showing up for your art is my biggest advice to artists of any medium. Your art practice is an ongoing conversation with your inner self, your muses, your ideas, your shadows, and the artists that came before you. Practice showing up for those conversations, and the momentum of creation will follow. Practice being consistent and disciplined so that you're well-equipped technically to follow up when a great idea hits you. Practice showing up, and you will be more resilient during times of creative block. Practice showing up, and you will have learned that creativity is a journey full of ups and downs, but a delicious journey nonetheless. Practice showing up, and you will find happiness and pleasure in consistency regardless of the quality of output, regardless of productivity.

Keep showing up for your art because when you do, you're planting seeds for your future self to harvest. Showing up consistently will eventually feel like embodied devotion to your craft, embodied devotion to your goals. All those layers and blockades that you might feel now will eventually begin to fall short when compared to your determination to show up. Theory only encounters truth through practice, and technical skills are only harvested through practice as well. Discipline is the closest friend to mastery. Showing up for your art will lead to a deep sense of knowing, ease, and becoming. Discipline is a protective force around your deepest path, and ultimately, it is the deepest form of self-love. Keep showing up for your art.

Thanks for the support,

Luiza
