everything is dying...

Hello everyone.
I hope you're doing well.
This time, rather than exploring a specific artistic concept I wanted to try and communicate something deeper to you all. I hope it resonates in some manner. Thank you for the support.

Thank you for this. The pessimist in me believes everything is dying. The optimist in me believes that we're ripe for an artistic rebellion.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I truly can't say this enough. I enjoyed your YouTube channel so much that I decided to join your Patron. I have been on my journey alone for some time.... trying to find myself.....immerse myself into things that truly make me passionate about life and get lost in the creative process.... I feel that it brings me a peace of mind.... and all I want to do is.... create meaningful pieces. I too have been trying to learn the needed skills to be able to create the art that I envision in my mind. I look forward to what's ahead

Despite some contradictions, thank you for continuing to raise the awareness of where art and artists stand in todays entropic world. As an filmmaker/ artist myself , where/ how does one navigate their work for sharing or are we supposed to not care - art for art sake . Unfortunately the internet and the “ugly” social media platforms are a blessing (and a curse ) for an independent artist to receive any kind of recognition which may or may not lead to opportunities for support. As you both move towards creating inspired art , support will be key for continuing.

Interesting. The YouTube algorithm introduced the Cinema Cartography to me, and I enjoyed the videos enough to shell out $3 a month for Patreon. I describe the channel as "nostalgic catnip for graduate-degreed film majors" (like moi). But isn't this video just another attempt at branding? Donning the trappings of an "art for art's sake, damn you!" anarcho-libertarian [sorry, I forgot the exact political labels you self-applied] to lead the revolution? Out of the 8 billion humans on Earth, how many of them would say the exact same things? Maybe not so eruditely and adroitly, but the same sentiment is, I think, quite common among talented yet underpaid youth. Where's your line between perspicacious scrutiny of capital-A Art and unconscious (or conscious) pretension? Excuse my tangent, but my apophenia entwined your monologue to the written words of Monica Byrne in a Washington Post op-ed about the death of staged theater (in America, natch), due to the industrial-commercial system. Byrne suggests that we should do away with bureaucratic theater complexes requiring multi-million dollar administrators and instead fund the artists directly. Do you concur? Here's a one-time guest pass through the WaPo paywall to the piece: https://wapo.st/441Y8L5 Anyway...enough rambling, I should get back to my flailing and failing art. ;-)

Beautiful work, Lewis. You have truly challenged me to look at the world around me with a more critical, objective, and honest lens. And I wouldn’t go so far to call your online presence shallow. You have, in some ways, changed my life for the better. Thank you.
