Patreoncast #12 - NFT's & Content

Hello everyone. After finally moving houses we are back with our Patreoncast. We shall be returning with our conversations with much more frequency and are very happy to be bringing more and more interesting topics for us all to discuss.

This week we are discussing the recent NFT trend and what effects it may have on the artworld as well as the altering in people's perceptions of art.

We also delve deep into Martin Scorsese's recent essay: 'Il Maestro'.

And we respond to some wonderful comments and insightful looks from some of you. Thank you to Justin Reid for his comment and to get a look at the article that is mentioned, you can find it here.

Stay tuned for more videos coming soon from The Cinema Cartography, as well as our upcoming discussion on this years Academy Awards.

I have tried to get into nfts, actually dropped two pieces and sold one, but I feel less fufil as an artist cause, this is a business and No one is going to buy something they can't profit from in the future, My first drop the sale felt forced cause I had to drop the price a couple of times before a friend bought it, my second one "jelly feels" felt a bit more painful cause I spent so much working on this and putting my all, pushing myself creating this piece and the major critique from a collector was it doesn't appeal as an NFT lol that being I really love that project and wish I didn't waste $200 minting it has an nft and just focused on doing it for the love the NFT community is so awkward and everyone is doing collectibles projects which is essentially being able to buy copies or variations of a piece, and that seems to be appealing to collectors, it's like selling baseball cards it's not all roses for me though I have friends who have had better experiences with NFTs the work https://www.instagram.com/p/CSg6UWlHS4R/

I feel you, about how the value of your work shouldn't be dictated by how commercially viable it is. it hits right at home.
