We decided to go with some classic Halloween films for our October Deep Dive.

Blair witch would have been interesting to talk about. After all, the film utilizes the found footage techniques and definitely produces great results. It’s a very scary film to me. Extra measure was taken in order to have the performance and story flow fluently or logically. I think people so quickly dismiss the film on a surface level and go in knowing it’s fake and are baffled when it isn’t a paranormal activity film. It doesn’t try to be a horror film in the conventional sense. It succeeds in creating this scenario to feel so real, like what we see are bits salvaged to show the recordings of their journey. There is so much to explore about the efforts made both on and off screen to make this film feel like an actual case of three missing college students and what was left behind.

2020-10-10 05:04:10 +0000 UTCChose blair witch because its value hasn't been decided yet outside of the context of it's release. I can listen to people talk about alien and the exorcist all day, but blair witch, at least the actual movie, seems relatively under explored.
