Depending on how fundamentalist the cult is, they might still drink.

I mean, New York IS indeed the Yerevan of America

I love doing crime with the Mormon McPoyles

We know them well in LA. He is Chita's son. Chita used to sell flowers and built himself up to become one of the richest Armenians in Los Angeles by supplying fuel to LAX. I believe this is where the majority of this guy's wealth came and then while he was so rich he squandered it by messing around like this.

This feels like a TrueAnon episode. Also, shocked Eric Adam’s wasn’t involved somehow

I never comment on Patreon but logged on to say this same thing. Amazing aesthetics too for an Art Deco hedonistic gangster boss in running a Weimar-era nightclub

Not sure why, this made me want to listen to an episode about Plum Island

If you're interested in this story, "The Bear River Massacre: A Shoshone History" by Darren Parry (former chairman of the NWB Shoshone, good guy) elaborates on it pretty well

I used to live in the town just down the road a couple miles from the compound that Jacob lived on and that fuckin place, a stretch of sagebrush and sand just south of Portage, Utah, has a relentlessly grim history of its own It was initially an LDS cooperative farm that ended up being where the Northwestern Shoshone ultimately fled to in 1880 after the 1863 Bear River Massacre had left them functionally homeless for over a decade and a half, becoming a small town called Washakie (named after Chief Washakie of the Eastern Shoshone, God only knows if Jacob Kingston knew or cared about that bit of history when drew the town's name for his scam "biofuel company") In 1960, the church decided it was gonna sell the land out from underneath the Shoshone, and upon hearing this the white LDS bishop there took this as his license to burn down the remaining Shoshone homes there In 1984, the church sold a substantial portion of the remaining land they owned in the Washakie-Portage area (on the order of 184 acres) to the NWB Shoshone, allowing them to (FINALLY) receive federal recognition as a tribe in 1987 At some point, hard to isolate exactly when or who from, the Kingstons bought their "ranch" (read: prison camp for women refusing to cooperate with cult orders) in Washakie, and then nearly all the land surrounding until pretty much all that was left of the Shoshone reservation was their old cemetery, which is still about how things stand today The place gained a lot of public notoriety in 1998 when Mary Ann Kingston, who was sent there for refusing to marry her uncle, escaped after torture and dragged herself six miles to a c-store on Interstate 15, leading to a legal battle that ended up sending both her piece-of-shit father and piece-of-shit uncle to prison for seven months and four years, respectively (which I feel comfortable saying was not nearly enough in either case) The Kingstons continue to run at least some of that land, obviously minus the biofuel plant after it was shut down by the Feds, the Shoshone cemetery, and some of the other land parcels that have changed hands since, and it's presently where Desert Tech (the firearm company you mentioned Donald Trump Jr. advertising for) has their testing range Like I said, grim

Can I expect an Amar Suloev episode on another installment of History of Armenia: True Crime Edition?!

Jack McReynolds

In your research of Mormon cults did you come across the Strangites of Michigan / Wisconsin? They were (still very few left) followers of a Michigan state representative and “pirate king” of Lake Michigan named Joseph Strang. They were forcefully defeated by Irish immigrants.

Jason Machacek

More of this please! Love you guys 😘

HozanBrozan

1 hour long HoA episode??? Outrageous! Should be longer

kliachichka

There is actually a quite successful (and good) German tv series called Babylon Berlin, basically a detective series playing in the political chaos of Weimar Republic Berlin, where one of the main antagonists ist mainly just called „der Armenier“/ the Armenian, even though his real name is Edgar Kasabian

Anggg

So we got Jesus with heat vision before GTA 6?

nughh

Guys, it's 1AM PST. You can't drop an episode on me with a title like that, because now I have to listen to it. Fuck it. I'll just get a coffee before class.
