Comments

Wow, I'm listening to this way late and blindly commenting, cool. Film rights and securing them is sorta my actual job so hit me up if you REALLY want the rights to Robot Jox. Probably cursed but hey...

TerminalBlue

Whoa whoa wait, are we talking TV rights, home video rights, or theatrical rights? Generally separate things. Also; theatrical for old bad movies tends to be the cheap one. Go big is cheap so GO BIG!

TerminalBlue

Cmon! Theres also Hiromu Arakawa who ah... came up with Shou Tucker...

Gilded Dragon

I will say that we did try to American Gundam. Battletech had it's own cartoon for a hot second. Mechwarrior was more a video game property, but it was out there. Then there was Exo Squad. Also, Robotech. Not trying to call anyone out for a lack of knowledge, more of a "they've tried. It just never caught on as big as Gundam."

Jack McReynolds

I will gladly fund any campaign to buy the rights to this movie

Saint Muerte

I keep switching between binding of Issac and dead cells. I'm a simple man.

How dare you make fun of this classic 😁 . I watched this multiple times in the late 80s/early 90s as part of a collection of low budget/badly written and acted films I regularly rented from my local independent video shop. I even own a vhs copy which I think is ex-rental. (Also - I do own a copy of Ice Pirates). Better than anything Prime & Netflix are pushing out nowadays.

Kevin Leah (AKA Zoinks!)

If video games are eligible for being on LLBR, then Kojima's I-Can't-Believe-It's-Not-Gunam series Zone of the Enders would be a good pick, it's exactly as Kojima as you'd want, including literal cock-pits. If video games aren't on the table, there's also a Zone of the Enders OVA and a 26-episode anime, both of which are presented in crisp 2001-era crustovision.

Wayland The Spritesmith

Can you say a podcast has gone off the rails if it was never on them? This was great stuff. Put up that Patreon goal!

Thad

So this is the IP Tom eas talking about potentially buying a month or two back!

LensWipe

Squatting in the vacant intellectual property of the late 1980s is the kind of legal chicanery I can get behind. Quick, someone call Leonard French

Mutual Aid Miniatures

It is an incredibly difficult game too. I love that you can just fucking tip over from stupidity and that if you want music you need to spend money on a boom box. I'd buy it again but I'm more interested in a Battletech Firestorm cabinet.

Mutual Aid Miniatures

Son of a bitch put the MGS2 sons of liberty demo on the disc. Such a smart move, like for real. I never would have tried the game if it wasn't for that.

david reid

I worked for Game Crazy when this game came out. Only way we could sell it was if we had it on display. Full controller everything. THE GAME HAD A BUTTON FOR YOUR WINDSHIELD WIPERS. Such a forgotten about gem that game. I always wanted to play ikuruga using that controller.

david reid

Does Zone of the Enders count as a Gundam?

david reid

Didn’t Joe Haldeman write the screenplay for this ?

S.O. Khan

The under siege episode might be the drunkest episode joe has released

John the penguin

Long time listener, joined the Patreon specifically for this ep

Bob Arens

I've got a minimum of 20k on this robot venture. Hmu

19ZXB Donkey brains

Kojima did make a gundum, aside from the metal gears (metals gear?), Zone of the Enders is a mech game that came out in the early 2000s.

David Schuller

Not even kidding—if you get a script and an artist I’ll publish a Robot Jox comic book.

Frank Fucile

Ice Pirates is a legitimately good comedy.

Ben Schwabe

Lions Led By Robots: Steel Battalion longplay video when?

Mutual Aid Miniatures

Bamco Nandai would send Heihachi and a Souls boss as the sicarios

nughh

Sorry, you're right Hell of a Way did it.

Mighty Slim Pickings

Llbd has never done robot jox before

Lions Led By Donkeys Podcast

Oh no, I've been listening long enough for them to do a movie a second time.

Mighty Slim Pickings

I have seen both Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death and Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama. Sorority babes is more in the "porn without porn" genre, Cannibal Women...honestly I kinda liked but Maher is the worst part

Austin Arminio

Monthly request for the zoo crew to watch MS0080: War in the Pocket for the Christmas LLBR episode.

Le Di Chang

I’ve just settled in to play RDR2 pairs perfectly with robots…

mumbles march

Perfect timing I'm about to go for my morning bike ride!
