The first interation of the Lovers included Jerry Harrison later of Talking Heads and David Robinson later of The Cars. Their first album is an absolute classic of proto punk. That line up lasted one album. The rest of the Modern Lovers albums are markedly different in tone and style. As to Jonathan Richmond stopping performing live in 1980 I say really? I saw him live in 1982 or 83 to a packed club of enthusiastic fans.

It's fighters fight on a raised platform that you can be pushed off of onto a bunch of crash pads hidden by copious fog machines. Western fans affectionately call it Moat FC or Moat Fights.
