Interesting to note the heightened paranoia felt by Rwandan Hutus after the 1972 genocide of hutus in Burundi by a Tutsi dominated government, the Ikiza. Up to 300,000 dead.

I'm finally feeling like I'm okay to get into this series. I'm not excited about the atrocities, but I like to be in the know, especially since while I didn't believe the racist lie about this being "an old tribal conflict", I wasn't really familiar with the actual causes.

My parents recently got a puppy to accompany their older dog. They were lucky to get a golden retriever puppy who was going to be a show dog (but has a minor kink in his tail, and dog showing is bullshit perfectionism) so he's already got a lot of training. House training a puppy is 100% the worst part of the experience of raising one, because you're constantly on edge making sure that they're not going to pee somewhere.

I tend to wait until a series is complete to listen to it. On this occasion, that may be a choice I come to regret.

In Canada, we got more media about Romeo Dallaire's PTSD than about the genocide itself
