Well, here we are - the final page of the comic proper (it's one single long page, but I split it up so the uploader wouldn't shrink it down). Comic "proper" because there's still a 4 page epilogue coming! I wanna see Al figuring out his illusion space, as a treat. I quite enjoy leaving Al's old earrings on the dog tag chain (Ethan's memory keepsake of Al) and Al's industrial piercing (Stryder's memory keepsake of Adrian) as the final image to leave with readers - a little nod to the idea that they'd always find each other, over and over again, across lifetimes, obstacles be damned. I know it's an impossible task to write a story ending can satisfy everyone, but I went for an ending that satisfied me in the hopes that I also stuck the landing for others, haha. I left them here in Al's blank canvas world he's built instead of returning to the Academy where everyone's waiting because we already know what lays down the path of being an exorcist. We've seen that already! Letting them have their private time here in this space marks the start of their new path forward, to face whatever may come together, and that felt an appropriate place to see them off. ( ̄▽ ̄ )ブ
I realize there's unresolved bits - ideas introduced over the course of the story that were laid into the foundation and not explicitly explained. But, I like leaving some things up to reader interpretation. I always appreciate movies and books that build in some leeway for me in that respect, so I hope you find this appealing as well. I can't intelligently express how much it means to me that I've had such a wonderful audience along with me for this journey - thank you so much for your support over the years!
Stay tuned for the epilogue and a post laying out what I'm gonna be working on next!
