Foreword

It’s no secret to anyone that I love SFV characters. It’s also no secret that I don’t like the overly stylized shapes of their figures in that game. A lot of people argue “they look good in game”, and yes, they do look in game, because they are in constant movement at all times. In an animation environment, you don’t tend to have complex motions, adding to the fact of having a closer camera. This makes the style really stick out.

Still, people find them nice. I do too, however, the reason why I don’t like it, is because it’s hard to recreate those body figures in Daz without resulting in them looking really deformed.

While I was planning my break, I found a Daz Addon that allows me to “Mix” body shapes. What does this mean? Well you see…

In Daz, you can edit a body shape, but you can only edit it full. Yes, you can edit the size of buttocks, chest, arms and all that jazz, but when it comes to body shapes (thin, voluptuous, fitness size…), you can only edit the full body. This means, if you use Voluptuous, you get Voluptuous top to bottom. You cannot choice which part is getting Voluptuous and which part is not.

With the addon, you still can’t do that, however, it gives you all of Daz’s Body Shapes AND it lets you edit it in the following way: You can affect only the top until the pelvis, or from the pelvis to bottom. It gives you the ability to affect halfs. To make it even better, those halfs are set individually, for example, “Voluptuous Bottom”, and it gives you the ability to make it positive or negative, this effectively means “make the half Bottom more or less Voluptuous”.

This is what it was needed for the SFV Style. They can be better of course, but this is already a huge step. I decided to build a model with her, and I decided to go with Chun-Li, because why not.

Daz Diffrences

First, we have our Chun-Li base. This is to demonstrate what are we aiming towards.

Like I mentioned before, in Daz, when it comes to getting the shape base of the body, you can only mess with absolutes: either you are shaping the whole body (Fitness, Body Tone, Voluptuous, etc) or you are not.

This is the regular figure with those limitations. This is the closest I'm able to achieve in shaping.

This is the figure I've been able to achieve with the addon. I've changed the half top to reduce some areas, while making the half bottom a little more voluptuous.

If we compare it to the original figure, you can see the differences highlighted. That way it's easier to notice a change of shape.

If we do the same with another view point, we will notice there are major changes too. In this particular comparison we have two kind of highlighs though, a very darker Red and a lighter Red.

In this particular case, the darker Red means difference. This means "This shape is missing these parts from the non-addon Daz shape". While the bust have been reduced significantly with their original base, notice too how her belly is also more flat, giving her a more fit and femenine figure.

In this case too, the lighter Red means gain. This means "This shape has gained these parts COMPARED TO the non-addon Daz Shape".

Conclusions

I am very impressed by the results, honestly. However, I’m not 100% confident of using this addon, because from what I read, it comes with a flaw. I don’t think this flaw is important, mostly because it messes with Daz’s autocorrection shapes, something SFM can only dream of. Still, I would like to see how this behaves.

And since that's what I want to see...

Wait, do people think you are the exhibitionist one? - Chun-Li to Cammy, many DLC’s later.
