This page makes me want to run in there, pluck Al off the ground, and scamper away with him
---------------------
I had a few names beginning with "A" and ending in "L" that I'd considered for what Al's "given" name would be, but there's all manner of symbolism or real world context attached to names found in demonology or fallen angel stories, etc, and I didn't want those to be interpreted as relevant to the plot! I decided Al's given name didn't need to have heavy symbolism associated to it, and I definitely got stuck in over-thinking it for too long, haha. I ended up going with Merasiel, because I think it pairs well with the name Malthus, and what lore I could find associated with the name appears to be fairly innocuous as compared to a well known name like Azrael.
At any rate, the name serves one main purpose in this interaction: Al had chosen his own name, just like all demons do when they come top side, and Lucifer chose not to use it to address him.
