Wouldn't it be insane if The Reason Ethan said "don't be afraid" and the reason he said "I love you, ding dong" was NOT a moment of psychic forknowledge NOR his words subconciously being affected by his soul BUT INSTEAD... both were hints to Al that he remembers. He remembers it all. Living. Falling in love. Dying. And he's not gonna let it happen again. ... I may have been reading too much "fix-it" fanfiction... (T^T)
