My eyes of course normally just 'see' the whole finished images, because of all the unconscious processing that my brain does to just extract the intended visual meaning. The fact that I don't notice the craft behind all of it is a testament to your skill. It seems parallel to my experience as a phonetics teacher, where so much of my job is to help students learn to hear the actual, physical noises that their mouths produce, instead of just the abstract words.
