Iris didn't have the foggiest idea as to what the octomaid had done to elude Altrix. Space and time seemed to warm, holes ripping through thin air and closing just as quickly. She remembered falling, unearthly screams that bored into her skull, the world spinning around her...

"Almost theeerre... okay!"

VWOIP! And suddenly, there was silence. Iris was completely disoriented and shocked into silence. As Cora stepped forward, her suckers popping against the asphalt of a neighbouring alleyway, Iris tumbled to the ground, her limbs sprawling to spaghetti-like heaps.

"Spacial rifts are pretty convenient for getting here and there in a hurry, wouldn't you say?" Cora beamed, before taking a second glance at Iris. "...Ooh boy, that took a lot outta ya, huh? How many fingers am I holding up?"

"...Th... those are tentacles..." Iris murmured, her eyes spinning. Her body creaked as she slowly retracted herself.

"Oh! Right, old habit." Cora laughed, running a tentacle through her hair. "Well, I'm Cora, and I gotta say, I'm super excited to meet you, Miss Whiplash!"

"...yeah... great..." Whiplash was usually more enthusiastic to be meeting a fan, but she wasn't too pleased with herself letting Altrix get away. "How does a maid know how to tear holes in space and time again...?"

"Ooooh, you don't wanna get into that stuff. You'll go mad, really." Cora shook her head. "Really eldritch stuff, my old man taught me how to do that! But that's not important, you're going after that snake lady right?"

"...Uh, yeah, that's right." Whiplash nodded, staggering to her feet, brushing herself off. "And... you're a maid. Did you know she was coming?"

"Oh not for realsies, but I figured she'd swing by eventually..." Cora folded her tentacles, puffing her cheeks. "I zip between a couple different maid cafes for work, and she slithered into a couple already. She's got a thing for maids, y'know."

"Really? Shoot, I shoulda known that... why didn't I see that coming?" Iris rubbed her chin, frowning to herself. "Wait, I know why, it's because I don't give a shit about weeb crap..."

"Saaaaaaaame though..." Cora groaned. "But it pays well!"

"No kidding." Iris shrugged. "Okayokay, getting sidetracked, she's got a thing for maids. Does she..."

"She kidnaps them, yep." Cora frowned. "I dunno where she takes them though..."

"Probably some messed up harem or something gross like that..." Iris grumbled, pulling out her phone. If Altrix was going around kidnapping young women, the very least Iris could do was warn her girlfriend to stay home and keep the doors locked. Locks weren't nothing for an elastic superheroine anyway.

Cora glanced over, tilting her head. The sounds of suckers popping against the ground gave away her attempt to be a nosy nelly and peep on the famous Whiplash's DMs.

"You take your phone with you on the job??" Cora paced around to get a look, but Iris kept twisting just out of reach. Even beyond a full 360 rotation, her midriff twisted like a churro, she wouldn't let the maid snoop on her phone.

"It's a throwaway phone for superhero work." Iris muttered, her body creaking as she twisted away from Cora. "I'm not stupid enough to carry my personal cell with my GPS and my-"

Bzzt. Iris' phone buzzed. She got a message... It was from Megan? Iris hurried to open it...

She gasped sharply. The message was a single image... it was Altrix in her house, her bedroom, and she had Megan coiled up in her pink scaled snake tail! She was holding Megan's head close, their cheeks pressed together. Altrix, smug as ever, put up a cutesy peace sign to the camera; Megan, bound up in layers of coils, was helpless, smiling drunkenly, her eyes consumed by dreamy colours...

What really burned Iris was that she could tell Megan was undressed; her bra was poking out of the top of the coils!

"Oh! That's Altrix!" Cora finally got a good look. "...Who's that? I don't recognize her from my cafe circuit-"

"That's my girlfriend you're oggling." Iris growled. "She kidnapped my girlfriend to get at me."

Iris was pissed; her grip tightened around her phone, fingers and muscles swelling until it began to crack, spark, and ultimately crunch in her hand. Cora frowned, mourning the loss of such expensive hardware, before turning to Iris.

"Listen, Whiplash, let me help you!" Cora coiled her tentacles in front of them, as if she were balling them into fists. "I've been chasing Altrix for a while now! Well, not as long as I've been chasing you, because, um, big fan, s-so... a-anyway you can't do this alone!"

"She's dangerous, Cora." Iris glared. "If she gets one good look at you, you're suddenly her tentacle-y play thing."

"But I can help!" Cora pleaded. "She already got the drop on you once, right? It's dangerous to go alone!"

"She got lucky is what she did." Iris tossed her phone to the side, crunching it under her heel. "I'm a professional superhero, I don't need to get any wannabe sidekicks in danger..."

"Whiplash, please, it's too risky!" Cora pointed at the smashed phone with a tentacle. "That photo was just to goad you, please, think about it-"

"I'm sorry Cora..." Iris shook her head sharply. "I can't stand around bickering while Megan's in trouble. Altrix just made it personal."

Iris, furrowing her eyebrows, lashed her arms outwards, wrapping around the base of a billboard. She tugged taut, bending her knees and shot Cora a look.

"Don't worry about me!" Iris shouted. "I'll be fine! I got a plan!"

Sproing! Before Cora could get a word in, Iris launched herself like a rubber band up and over the rooftops. Cora gasped, clambering up the brick-side wall on her suckered tentacles in a hurry, just barely catching a glimpse of Whiplash as she flew over the skyline. She stretched and flattened her limbs into flat, curved wings, gliding through the sky.

"Wow..." Cora watched, astonished, her inner fangirl coming out for a brief moment. As Whiplash disappeared behind a high-rise apartment building, Cora snapped back to reality, popping off the wall and onto a nearby rooftop.

"She's gonna get herself into trouble..." Cora muttered. "I can't just stand by and do nothing, I'm not a... a standbyer or something!"

Flustered, Cora jumped from rooftop to rooftop. Her body was heavy and awkward, and though her tentacles could catch her landings, she lacked the seemingly effortless, aerodynamic grace Whiplash had. She need to be faster if she was going to be of any help to her hero at all...
